I think with some heard work, Paul can reduce the Democrats' advantage in Detroit down to 97.4%.

No no no, we all know Dick Cheney should be the head of the Ethics and Morality Department.

That speech that RAND PAUL gave at Howard University felt more like a piece of absurdist performance art than an actual political event.

Well, in all fairness their minority outreach shares much in common with their efforts to reach across the aisle.  if anything it shows a consistency in approach.

It's about freedom and liberty. In his view, a business owner should be able to decide if you are allowed to sit at his lunch counter or not based on the color of your skin. He believes that by doing so you will alienate customers and your business will eventually fail. Whether he actually believes it or just wears it as a public face to hide his personal bigotry is still a question. So, yeah, put him in charge and expect progress, sure. You bet.

When you have unshakable faith that your dogma's true, you think it's enough to rely on one of your officially designated "cool guys". No one thought it was necessary to think the appointment through.

...or craft different messages that would be more appealing.

Gop minority outreach isn't about minority votes.
It is about giving a little more cover when they try to convince some undecided ehite folks that it isn't a terrible idea to consider voting for their party on a national level.

These voters won't ever be hearing any more of the gop message than the ads right before the elections.

Write each flaw on a 3x5 card, put them unto a hat, then kick the hat very hard. The card that lands closest, right side up and facing you is the one to address first. Rinse and repeat.

Rand Paul. Because Mitch McConnell wasn't embarrassing enough. At least he doesn't need lots of surgery to look like Ken.

"If the majority wills what is socially atavistic, then to thwart the majority may be, though undemocratic, enlightened. It is more important for any community, anywhere in the world, to affirm and live by civilized standards, than to bow to the demands of the numerical majority. Sometimes it becomes impossible to assert the will of a minority, in which case it must give way, and the society will regress; sometimes the numerical minority cannot prevail except by violence: then it must determine whether the prevalence of its will is worth the terrible price of violence.
The axiom on which many of the arguments supporting the original version of the Civil Rights bill were based was Universal Suffrage. Everyone in America is entitled to the vote, period. No right is prior to that, no obligation subordinate to it; from this premise all else proceeds.
That, of course, is demagogy. Twenty-year-olds do not generally have the vote, and it is not seriously argued that the difference between 20 and 21-year-olds is the difference between slavery and freedom. The residents of the District of Columbia do not vote: and the population of D.C. increases by geometric proportion. Millions who have the vote do not care to exercise it; millions who have it do not know how to exercise it and do not care to learn. The great majority of the Negroes of the South who do not vote do not care to vote, and would not know for what to vote if they could. Overwhelming numbers of White people in the South do not vote. Universal suffrage is not the beginning of wisdom or the beginning of freedom. Reasonable limitations upon the vote are not exclusively the recommendations of tyrants or oligarchists (was Jefferson either?)."

"From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that...but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act.The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."

Good news! Paul Ryan is bringing back "Compassionate Conservatism." That should really give them a boost on the outreach front.

Clearly, this. The GOP couldn't care less, truly, about "minority outreach" - they only care about "voter manipulation."

What's hilarious is to think about what kind of "outreach" they would perform, could they even get anyone in the door.

"So, what are you going to do to help me, a poor, single African American woman with 3 kids who finds it difficult to find and hold a steady job that pays enough to provide for my family?"

"Well, we're going to do everything we can to ensure that you don't get any financial assistant from the government, while also asking you to pay higher taxes as well. This will help you overcome your innate laziness!"

And their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul

Unfleged aquaintance.
