Meh. i love Batman as much as the next guy, but I'm getting tired of watching indie filmmakers in LA leeching off of established Intellectual Property to make a name for themselves.
If you love Batman, create an original story inspired by your love of the character and his world and leave fan fiction for the Twilight fans.

I'm interested, will probably watch Joker Rising

Oh geez, couldn't make it past one minute of algorithmically-generated "emo" music, rotating camera, smoky storage warehouse... This is like the Arcade Fire of cinema.

You'd better tell that to Allan Moore.

I stopped after the Joker stepped toe to toe with Batman. Makes zero sense. Batman is a trained mma fighter, Jokers just a nut. I doubt it be much of a match up. Jokers appeal is his lunacy, not his unarmed combat skills.

Meh.

Goes to show what YOU know!  It was in SLOW MOTION, stupid!  Slow motion means it's deep...and good!!!

Came to say the exact same thing (though not as well).  I used to recreate Star Wars scenes with friends.  I was 8.  This is what happens when you give an 8 year old money!

If you have the resources and skill, why not create something of your OWN?

So you would rather see knockoffs?

You expect the Joker to make sense all the time? Where's the fun in that?

I don't get all the hateration in here. Joker Rising looks more watchable than the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film.

Saw Joker Rising.

Y'know... it's easy to see that it was a labor of love. The passion was self evident. This is a collection of people who have put their heart, mind and will into a piece of work and seen it through.

You'll notice that none of the above descriptions include the word 'skill'.

Oh dear god...the slo-mos...THE SLOW-MOs!!

And you thought Two Faces trailer was slow.

AND THE PLOT!

Who on earth was responsible for that?

'Hai guys! We can make The Joker a creation of real tear jerking/anti-hero sympathy. He's lost everything and this is his REVENGE! It's original!!'

Only...you know... not.

Not even a little.

I've never, ever been interested an origin story for The Joker. If pressed I'd prefer to think of it as Michael Douglass' 'Falling Down', if anything at all.

The best origin story for that homicidal wack-a-doodle that's been shoved down my throat was:

So. Props to the makers for their perseverance. Fire the writer.

Joker works best as the Killing Joke multiple-choice past version.

You obviously never read the comic.

That was absolutely the right way to handle the Joker's backstory. IMO, it's like Darth Vader; he was more interesting when we could only guess what he was before.

'Cause psychopaths take the time to only match themselves up with people they can beat in a fight.
I mean, honestly? THIS is your reason?

/I stopped watching at 01 second, 'cause I'm hip that way.

If it hadn't been done a bajillion times already, then sure. And if you HAVE to have your Joker that way, stick with The Killing Joke.

Jesus, if you're going to use Adagio in D, then don't use a friggin MIDI version.

/Also, agreed with above that the Joker doesn't need an origin story.

I also always liked that he had multiple stories for how he got his facial scars.  The first time, you think you're getting some backstory that might make him a sympathetic character.  Then you realize he's just a bullshiatting loon.

Eh, I didn't hate the flick.  Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was still kinda fun.  'Ceptin that Harley wasn't in the buff, but hey...  Heheheh

Anyway, for people doing it for fun, why not?  It was OK.  Why so serious?

\OK, you saw that last line coming, but still...
