President's bullet-ridden body in the street
Ride, Johnny ride
Kennedy's shattered head hits concrete
Ride, Johnny ride
Johnny's wife is floundering
Johnny's wife is scared
Run, Jackie run
Texas is an outrage when your husband is dead
Texas is an outrage when they pick up his head
Texas is the reason that the president's dead
You gotta suck, suck, Jackie suck
President's bullet-ridden body in the street
Ride, Johnny ride
Kennedy's shattered head hits concrete
Ride, Johnny ride
Texas is an outrage when your husband is dead
Texas is an outrage when they pick up his head
Texas is the reason that the president's dead
You gotta suck, suck, Jackie suck
Arise Jackie O, Jonathon of Kennedy
Well, arise and be shot down
The dirt's gonna be your dessert
My cum be your life source
And the only way to get it
Is to suck or fark
Or be poor and devoid
And masturbate me, masturbate me
Then slurp it from your palm
Like a dry desert soaking up rain
Soaking up sun
Like a dry desert soaking up rain
Soaking up sun

Sincerely,

The Misfits

This is getting annoying. It reminds me of the way the GOP paraded Reagan's corpse through DC with 24 hour FOX coverage so 50 year old white men could jerk off all day with the sound up for once in their lives.

Yeah JFK was shot. We know. Learned about it (and the million associated conspiracies) in history class.

This is completely unnecessary.

Perhaps relevant. A buddy of mine posted this to FB this morning:

50 years ago today, it was my 8th birthday. I came home home after school to find my mom crying in front of the tv, which she turned off. My party happened anyway. Later, I found out that JFK had been shot and killed. I didn't really understand the impact on the country or my parents, who were in tears a lot of the time watching the news. But after that day, I started to take an interest in the news. And it seemed to me that marked the beginning of an every-increasing show of blood on the TV screen. Maybe not an increase of bloodiness in the world, but more of it was getting into the living room. It hasn't stopped coming. And I always remembeer that day as the beginning.

A lone gunman on the upper floor of a building fired a shot which went through someone's head on an upward trajectory, leaving a smell of gunpowder residue which was reported by multiple witnesses standing at street level and on an overpass upwind of the incident. Then the body was rushed out of the state before the legally-mandated autopsy could be conducted, and a bunch of evidence disappeared. Case closed.

I do have a question about the stabilized Zapruder footage.

I mean, he is in the car, he grabs his chest high up, his wife leans over and they are obviously distraught, not waving now. and THEN his head assplodes? Yeaaaaaaaaaaah. Lone gunman, indeed.

I know, I know the Warren Commission determined that a cranky old bolt action Italian (Remember how they won the war for us?) rifle is the most rapid firing and accurate sniper weapon known to man. So deadly, in fact, the NATO and the Geneva convention both unanimously decided never to use it in combat ever again. In fact, it was so deadly, that they needed to send in a hit man to kill the only person capable of operating one as soon as they could.

Does it also bother you that we mark the end of World War I with a federal holiday?  Or that 9/11 will be remembered in the exact same way in 2061 as JFK's assassination is now?

Interesting stuff, for those of us that were alive when it happened. I understand that many younger folks won't get it, much like I didn't get all the fuss when Michael Jackson died.

I seem to remember a TV network doing this, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, anyone else remember that? PBS maybe? They edited together various network news clips from that day's breaking news coverage and aired it in real-time as it actually happened in '63.

Ten years have got behind you. 9/11 was 2001 so you mean 2051. And yes it would bother me. Why we celebrate tragedy is beyond me.

And any holiday that celebrates the end a horrible war is OK by me.

He almost caused a nuclear war. And then that whole Bay of Pigs thing.
As for putting a man on the moon, all he did was sign a couple of papers and make some speeches. Plenty of senators, congressmen and a whole lotta regular people did the rest.

C-Span Radio has been playing audio clips of news reports etc from that day besides the iconic ones.  The most affecting I heard was a clip from a Boston Symphony Orchestra Concert, the music abruptly dies and a voice, presumably the conductor's says "ladies and Gentlemen were have just received a wire service report, that we hope is incorrect, but it says that the president of the united states has been the victim of an assassination"  and then you hear gasps moans and "oh no's " from the audience just like in a movie and then' I 'm guessing because he didn't what the fark else TO do, the conductor says "we will now play Beethoven funeral march from his 3rd symphony"

Living on through politics
Body-guarded, heart in bits
A blue-eyed honesty
Indigo injury
The family tree is felled
Bereavement worn so well
Giving up on certainty
Wilderness society

Wearing the fame like a loaded gun
Tied up with a rosary
I'm glad I'm not a Kennedy

Imagine being a Kennedy
Rule without remedy
To watch your family die
The world loves a sacrifice
Prophets longing for the three
Honouring the tragedy
They hunger for the crime
The privilege to take a life

Wearing the fame like a loaded gun
Tied up with a rosary
Ooh, I'm glad I'm not a Kennedy

"And is not peace basically
A matter of human rights?
The right to live out our lives
Without fear of devastation?
The right to breathe air
As nature provided it?
The right of future generations
To a healthy existence?
Let us if we can step back from
The shadows of war and seek out
The way of peace"

I love the look in your eyes
I can see your soul sometimes
And we laugh
When we try too hard we stop and start
Oh imagine being a Kennedy
I'm glad I'm not a Kennedy

Wearing the fame like a loaded gun
Tied up with a rosary
I'm glad I'm not a Kennedy

Imagine being a Kennedy
Ooh I'm glad I'm not a Kennedy

"The cost of freedom is always high,
Yet one path we shall never choose
- that is the path of surrender
Or submission.
When a man's way please the lord,
The scriptures tell us,
'He maketh even his enemies
To be at peace with him'
We will not prematurely or unnecessarily
Risk the course of worldwide nuclear war
In which even the fruits of victory
Would be ashes in our mouths
Ashes in our mouths...
Ashes in our mouths...
Ashes in our mouths"

C SPAN is playing NBC's coverage, which is not often seen. No Cronkite, no Rather, just Huntley-Brinkley (known today as Brinkley-Who) and a lot of other guys with phones to their heads. At one point Frank McGee has 2 phones and an earbud going at once.

Where was Jackie going? Was she trying to get out of danger by crawling out the back of the car? It looks like she's desperately trying to get to the trunk to get the head tape or something.
