Nuclear trigger. Nuclear option. What a stupid term.

The filibuster was not originally designed to be a way to simply and effectively obstruct Senate business. It's purpose was to give time for the minority to debate and to temporarily delay passage

I'm glad the Senate is finally developing some balls.

Its not even real filibuster reform, and its hardly "nuclear".

The rule change only applies to appointees, it doesn't apply to supreme court appts and it doesn't apply to legislation.

I would have preferred a tiered filibuster.  First week, 60 votes.  Second week, 55 votes.  Third and all subsequent weeks, 51 votes.  Eliminate the anonymous hold and make holds subject to the same time frames.  If you can't get enough support for a simple majority after three weeks, it's probably not a bill worth passing.

The other day, after I nailed a project, I walked down my hall yelling this line and a head popped out of an office and said "Shut up, Lyman".

I love my nerdy coworkers.

I think I got through "Victory is" in the headline, before quoting the whole scene in my head... I'm not sure what that says about me.

fta It is a big deal.

You're right, Mr Merkley. But you're not done. Now finish by instituting the same rules Wendy Davis had to follow in Texas.

The headline itself wasn't all the reference you needed?

I posted a link to that scene after successfully agitating for a new printer on Tuesday.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch. I always remember how awesome season 2 is, but somehow forget the amazingness of Season 4.

Made me think of Stewie first.

I keep thinking Republicans as Stewie though. Always threatening and then executing things that turn out horribly for everyone.

I stopped watching about two episodes after Bartlett marched to Capitol Hill.
