He's too tall to play Cage. LL Cool J on the other hand  I think could do a pretty good job.

Or maybe Robert Downey Jr. could do it.

Does Luke Cage lick his lips every two seconds?

Good. Now they can recruit Terry Crews for the job

Really?  When I first watched "The Wire", I just assumed the actor playing Stringer Bell was as American as apple pie Maryland crab cakes.

I think in an earlier thread, some Farker claimed that Heimdal's dagger says 'Bad Motherfarker' on it.

Able was I ere I saw Elba.

This guy doesn't look like a superhero. He looks like a rounder-headed Chris Rock.

Get Idris Elba to play Luke Cage and Benedict Cumberbatch to play Iron Fist and call the movie Flavor of the Month.

Come to think of it, I'd love to see a face to face meeting between Nick Fury and Heimdal.

Ha! Just like Marvel lost interest in Luke Cage.

/Actually collected Power Man and Iron Fist comics in the 80s.

Can Terry Crews do drama? He's great, but I've never seen him do anything other than action or comedy.

Sad but true that.

Me too.

I been waiting for a decent PM and/or IF movie all of my life.

This story makes me haz a sad.

/Fun fact. Nic Cage stage-named himself after Luke Cage rather than go with his given name of Copolla.

Second. I didn't realize that Stringer Bell and the captain from Prometheus were the same person until I rewatched Season 1 earlier this year.

I think Michael Jai White would be an awesome Luke Cage.

This would leave Idris Elba free to be play a straight guy Heimdall to Hiddleston's Loki in an epic buddy film.

He seems proud of Pacific Rim. That is bizarre. "No, I don't want to talk about The Wire. Don't you have any Pacific Rim questions?"

Very interesting interview about the man, but focusing on our local trade, I think if I was WB I'd offer him the GL part like  right now.

He REALLY wants to play a superhero leading man. Plus while I can't say he's feeling bad at Marvel, he also doesn't feel very enthusiastic either going by his answer to the Heimdall question.

Marvel is already putting the Cage egg into TV and I doubt they'd recast him as Luke. I also don't see them making a Black Panther movie for now and even if they do, again I don't see them recasting. So his best chance to be a leading man would be going to DC and going by the GL/Elba article from yesterday, I'd say he's snooping around.

This is what he posted on Twitter:

Thank you baby love..i like this idea..."@HeyTaz: @idriselba you should set this up 😻😻😻😻😻😻 pic.twitter.com/htnwDK5OjD"

much like no one wants to see a batman movie in which batman is anyone other than bruce wayne, no one wants to see a green lantern movie in which GL is anyone other than Hal Jordan.

Actually, no one wants to see a GL movie, especially after they farted out that last POS.

I has a sad.

I think you/we might be in the minority on that one.  Setting aside the fact the first probably killed off the likelihood of another GL movie for years since it was that farking bad, you have the fact most people are going to have no idea why GL is suddenly black/not Hal Jordan.

Then again, if they are going to try to reboot the character and ditch the Reynolds disaster this would probably be as good a shot as any to take.

That's really not hard to explain to audiences since the first movie showed several members of the Green Lantern Corps, and John Stewart has a pretty strong cult following from the Justice League cartoon and the comics.

pretty much no one was saying that.  anyone that wanted a GL movie wanted Hal Jordan, and any Hollywood feature that gets made will star an actor playing Hal Jordan.

the kids cartoon market and the feature film market are two completely separate entities.

I am not a GL fan in general (in that I don't follow the books, not that I dislike the characters/stories/whatever), so to me, there would be no problem with a non-Jordan GL. I just don't know enough about it to be a purist/partisan.

I wonder if Elba would like to start a new Blade franchise...

Maybe, but last I heard he paid his taxes regularly, so that might be a sticking point.

Uh, no, dude, you're wrong and don't even argue. Sure, most comic fans wanted Hal. Guess what? More people watch cartoons than read comics.

Really?  Most people know him from The Wire.  In fact, a bunch of major characters on The Wire weren't played by Americans.  Like the Mayor of Baltimore.  The reason no one noticed was that Dominic West was the only one of them who had trouble maintaining an American accent.

Are you kidding? Carcetti sounded Irish as shiat.

Elba did the best job covering up his accent, but it was clear he wasn't from Baltimore or anywhere near the mid-Atlantic.

I'm sure they do.  And those kids tend to not have much discretionary income.  If you think a big budget GL movie is\was going to get made based on the popularity of a children's cartoon, well, you need to pass that bong, because you are obviously smoking some high grade stuff.

Take this to the bank - any GL movie made will star an actor playing Hal Jordan.

1.- Uh, y'know teenagers and adults watch the shows too, right? Especially the DCAU shows which target for the older demo. It's not just "lol kids".

2.- The show ran from 2001-2006. GL movie came out in 2011. Someone watching the show at 10 would be 20 when the movie came out. So much for your "lol kids" argument too. They are asking for him because they grew up with him.

3.- Who said he's going to be in the movie? Clearly the execs are pushing Hal Jordan, no shiat, Sherlock. We're talking about some the AUDIENCE asking for John Stewart.

verbaltoxin: I want a Pacific Rim prequel with him in the lead as Stacker Pentecost.

I'm torn on anything more with Pacific Rim.  A sequel would be horrible since the story wrapped up so well.

A prequel I'm just not sure about.  According to del Toro and even based on what they say in the voice over at the start of the movie, the fight involving Gypsy Danger is the first time a Jager goes down.  So a prequel to the movie would be a little short on drama.

I want more Pacific Rim because the movie was great, but I also want to leave it alone because it was such a well-done, self contained story.

Eh.  Aliens drop new portals and launch followup invasion.  Get to see a few battle scenes with dozens of combatants.  End with with them dying chunks of meat onto a few ICBM's and launching them through the rifts!

What flavor of idiot are you?  Nobody in their right mind gives a shiat about Hal Boring-ass Jordan.  He's the absolute last GL that should get a movie, including G'nort.
