When this thing goes out to fight, is chris Jericho gonna announce his entry onto the battle field?

Is anyone else seeing this horrific Miley Cyrus advertisement on the right side of their screen or is that just me?  Fortunately it's just a bit small than a Post It note, so I've managed to cover it as I type this.  Preparing to click "Add Comment" and then remove Post It note, keeping it nearby for when I return to Fark in a few minutes.

That's some nice hardware, but I have to wonder what kind of run time it has. Power supplies are the limiting factor for a lot of tech like that...

I'm getting ads for Roku boxes, something I have searched for recently. So... either you're a closet Miley fan or your daughter was using your laptop again. You don't have a daughter, do you?

It's friggin ticketmaster. I was just searching for bill burr tickets. Apparently the ticketmaster gods equate insightful, well-delivered stand-up comedy with bland, mass produced pop dribble.

We are forgetting the most important question.  When will human cyborgs be available for combat operations, and how long after that, will you be able to get a sexbot using the same technology?

Prefer to play Inner Sphere. Playing with Clan assaults is all about seeing who gets their head knocked off last.

Omnis are more fun. I miss the Battletech novels. They were good beer and pretzel scifi.

A military robot will save your life? C'mon, subby, no foreign army is going to invade, and it's not because of some overpriced robot. The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans are what save our lives.

Ah, the two most important questions about any new technology. Can I use it to kill people and can I fark it.

The reason it weight so much is that it's full of small motors, each of which are built with steel, copper, and neodymium that you just can't substitute with lighter materials. If I could make lighter electric motors I'd be a farking billionaire.

Rindred: Atlas?
[www.dealspwn.com image 540x284]

Used to run a Raven in MW 4. No one that was serious about battlefield survivability ran anything over about 90 tons, even the jump-snipers. Too slow to maneuver when some arse like me got all up in their ankles. Especially the morons that'd strip their leg armor to save mass for guns and heat sinks. I'd spend the first 5 minutes taste-testing everyone, and the other 25 killing the weak over and over and over. Atlases couldn't depress far enough to hit a Raven at paint-swap range, as we were below waist height...

Why code it for independent action at all?

If you're going to have something running itself, humanoid is pretty much the single most retarded design to pick for the damn thing.  Give it a few extra legs, some wheels, extra grippers on the arms, put sensors on every limb instead of in a centralized head, etc.

Literally the only reason to make a robot man-shaped is to make it easy for a human driver to operate.

spamdog: I hope we have a revolution in power storage soon. This is really cool and all, but I bet it can't stay powered for long.

Apply Vietnam tech and scale accordingly. Example: during the Vietnam war, the U.S. was prototyping microwave and sonic weapons, which we now know as 'active deterrent systems'. That's about a 40 year gap. Then factor in what we the people don't know about the inner workings of these robots (like we didn't know about the details of prototyping in Nam)

TL;DR: they probably have the power issue figured out
