Big Deal, Peter Jackson beat them to it, minus the interactive part.  Or interesting.

Meh.  Movie tie-in.  Not really Google-Middle-Earth at all.  I'm disappointed.

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said
The chances the changes are all yours to make
The mold of your life is in your hands to break.

The greatest adventure is there if you are bold
Let go of the moment that life makes you hold
To measure the meaning can make you delay
It's time you stop thinking and wasting the day.

A man whose a dreamer and never takes leave
Who thinks of a world that is make believe
Will never know passion
Will never know pain
Who sits by the window
Will one day see rain.

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said
The chances the changes are all yours to make
The mold of your life is in your hands to break.

Yeah, as far as maps go, it's extremely limited. I wanted to scroll south and check out Umbar and the Haradwaith, or Cuivienien in the distant east where the First Children of Illuvatar, the elves, first awoke.

This doesn't go outside the boundaries of the movie. So what. It doesn't even have Mordor.

When I want to screw up productivity I just make up a random new LDAP entry for a phantom new employee and email the level one support monkeys.  This week it was:

"I'm thinking about getting a new console,

Should I get the PS4 or wait for the XBox?  I heard you guys really know this stuff well.

Thanks!"

Didn't some guys create Middle Earth in Minecraft a couple years back?

If by Google you mean Warner Bros through Chrome Experiments and by interactive map tour you mean barely functional highlights map of the portion of Middle Earth relevant to The Hobbit... sure.

Where can I find some good Orcish cuisine in the Bree area? Anyone?

No First Age map = who cares.

Beorn's house and the Carrock aren't even in the right place, and the "Mountains of Angmar" are not called that in the book; they're just a spur of the Misty Mountains.

No, no this isn't neat. This is the opposite of neat.

I don't think the Fark Travel service handles anything east of the Baranduin or north of the White Mountains.

ITT: People for whom any interactive presentation less than Call of Duty on Steroids is a waste of time

I think it's neat.

I want a map where I can zoom in so far I can see a hobbit pissing off the Brandywine River bridge.
