I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but...

Deep-dish pizza is not like an everyday thing here in Chicagoland. I love deep dish, but I only eat it once or twice a year. It's just way too filling. We ALWAYS order it whenever someone from NY or NJ is in town, so maybe that's why New Yorkers believe we eat the stuff as our usual pizza.

The usual pizza order is either thin crust (where the crust is crisp, not rubbery like NY) or it's "pan" pizza. Pan pizza is in between thin and what we call "stuffed" or "deep-dish."

I predict the peace will hold until either New York or Chicago tries to annex St. Louis style pizza.  Aw, who am I kidding?  No one wants St. Louis style pizza.

Yah I'm not sure why anyone thinks people eat that stuff daily.  It's great, but it's a thing you eat a few times a year maybe.  It's one of the few things I miss about living in Chicago.

I've taken a few trips to Chicago and most likely will be moving to the area this summer. I couldn't agree more. Can't wait to get some more Aurelio's at their Homewood location.

Yea, 80-90% of my pizza intake is thin crust, which is pretty fantastic on its own, especially the middle squares with no crust on them. But when I decide it's time for Lou Malnati's, I'm in heaven. If I ate deep dish as much as I'd like, I'd weigh about twice as much as I do.

That's one of the few things I really miss about living in San Francisco. Great, cheap burrito places everywhere. I mean, there's a pretty good burrito place next to the Addison Red Line stop, but it's still not the same.

NY-style pizza is good.
Chicago-style pizza is good.
California-style pizza, while not my favorite, is also good.

I feel sorry for people who are incapable of enjoying a pizza because of where it was born...

Italian food is all about celebrating fresh, simple, beautiful ingredients. In that way, the best pizza is never some lard pie piled with cheese. The best pizza has a flavorful, thin, crispy, disintegrate-in-your-mouth crust - that's the part most cotton-dough pizza places miss on. From there, you just put fresh, high-quality stuff on top of it, and you've got one of the divine foods of the world.

Yeah after I posted it I realized I forgot to rave about the taste...it had a Greek Sauce that is hard to describe....and was topped with olives, grape leaves, pepperoncinis, sausage, and a lot of things I can't recall ..... it was heaven on a crispy yet chewy crust....

and a big plus was it was just across the street from my house...I would step out the door and whistle real loud and then go back in....20 minutes later I would go across the street and get it.

If we're being weird, then I will tell you a great pizza I had was on a little place on the steps to the great windmill in Guayaquil Ecuador.  Great stuff.

Normally, I'd go for some Papa Murphy's.

Our local Steelers Bar does a good pie.  Large that will feed four people goes for $14.

Otherwise - Papa John's isn't bad.   Actually, I think I have a free one coming to be via their online point system.
