Can someone alert the FCC about the Krakatoan eruption of butthurt about to hit the airwaves?

Rich white people problems.

Can we stop calling everything the "nuclear option?"

farking do it this time damnit.

Man, I hope the pharmacies inside the Beltway have stocked up on Preparation H and Tucks, because it's gonna be a horror show if the Democrats have actually found their spine.

I personally liked the insinuation that the GOP is going to do the same thing when they become the majority party in the Senate again. Good luck with THAT anytime soon, Sparky. Your party is less popular than herpes right now; this isn't the time to talk about retaking the Senate.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: Can someone alert the FCC about the Krakatoan eruption of butthurt about to hit the airwaves?

"How DARE the Government try to govern?!!!"

foo monkey: Can we stop calling everything the "nuclear option?"

I agree. It's time to exercise the nuclear option on saying "the nuclear option."

foo monkey: Can we stop calling everything the "nuclear option?"

Hear, hear! It's pronounced "nuke-yu-lar."

"Nuclear option"

OH!

"Harry Reid"

oh...

The Republicans in the Senate just threatened to blow up the world if they didn't get their way. Show of hands: does anybody think they won't nuke the filibuster for all motions if they get the majority in 2015?

The Senate has been trying, and failing, to acquire nuclear capability almost as long as Iraq and Iran.  And frankly, I think Reid is currently in third place in that race.

2013-11-21 11:07:12 AM

Almost Everybody Poops: farking do it this time damnit.

Let's be fair, the Senate did grow some spine during the shutdown.

roddack: Nut up or shut up

This.

2013-11-21 11:07:48 AM
It's either eliminate the filibuster or eliminate the Senate entirely. I'm ok with either option

2013-11-21 11:08:24 AM
Senate Republicans counter that if Democrats go through with this change, they'll reciprocate the next time they control the White House and the Senate...

Solution: never let Republicans have control again.

Bonus: Republicans are helping.

2013-11-21 11:08:36 AM
Please, Harry, please!

Do it, for the love of all that is holy!

An out of spite. Spite is ok here, too

Lost Thought 00: It's either eliminate the filibuster or eliminate the Senate entirely. I'm ok with either option

They're not going to eliminate a filibuster, just stop requiring a supermajority to prevent one. Needing 60 votes was always a stupid idea, and it should never have existed in the first place.

2013-11-21 11:09:45 AM
Unless this refers to actually taking Senate Republicans behind a woodshed and beating them mercilessly until they need help from a machine to eat, breath, and shiat for the rest of their lives, it ain't enough.

Serious Black: The Republicans in the Senate just threatened to blow up the world if they didn't get their way. Show of hands: does anybody think they won't nuke the filibuster for all motions if they get the majority in 2015?

They won't get a majority in the Senate. They haven't had it in decades and the country is moving left. Senators have to appeal to an entire state, not just some backwoods, fundamentalist hamlets.

In addition, this should take some of the heat off the ACA roll-out. Hopefully it means I don't have to hear all the disingenuous tards on TV acting like they care about the common man.

This reflects more poorly on Obama for selecting poor candidates than it does on congress for refusing to confirm them

And give the House derps more power? No thanks. The Senate stays.

Lost Thought 00: It's either eliminate the filibuster or eliminate the Senate entirely. I'm ok with either option

It's the House that's retarded, because an extremist only needs to cater to the people in their district rather than all of the people in their state.

2013-11-21 11:12:27 AM
Or, they'll roll over like they always farking do.

Pretty good. Pret-ty good.

2013-11-21 11:13:11 AM
Well, they better hurry up with that. They've got until around January of 2015 to do it.

Oh and by the way when the Republicans have the majority, and they will eventually, you will reap what you sow... This is precisely the same argument the Democrats used when the Republicans were threatening them with the nuclear option.

2013-11-21 11:13:17 AM
Farking do it already!

2013-11-21 11:13:19 AM
Good. Republicans shouldn't just be allowed to put everything on hold until they're back in control. Elections have consequences.

2013-11-21 11:13:28 AM
According to an update on DKos, the motion is presented already

The gelatinous notochord has firmed up!

2013-11-21 11:13:59 AM
I can imagine the Republicans are a bit flummoxed by this.

After all, if you're a kidnapper and the hostage negotiator has already given in to your demands for food, a cell phone, a kicky Beaujolais Nouveau, the helicopter used on "Airwolf," a small - but significant - role in the Broadway Revival of "Fiddler on the Roof," a calendar featuring Kate Upton kneeing an Apostle in the nuts for each month, the complete "Bewitched" on Blu-Ray with all the Dick Sargent episodes dubbed over by Brian Blessed, the return of Hi-C "Ecto-Cooler" IN the metal cans and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Sorghum Alliance wouldn't you be shocked when your latest request is met with a crackling radio and the words "Take the shot?"

LOL

Really? Do you REALLY ACTUALLY believe that the GOP is going to be more than a regional, House-centric party from 2014 onwards?

So what happens when the democrats are the minority party?

Yeah, just let the regional governors have control over their territories.

Them boys been whackin' off in my toolshed!

2013-11-21 11:15:03 AM
DO IT, PUSSIES!!!

Just remember:  you can't hold the Senate forever, and what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

^^^^^^^

Yes.

2013-11-21 11:15:23 AM
There isn't much reason not to. The last time this was brought up Republicans swore that if it happened they would stop cooperating with Democrats but based on the GOP's track record I don't think that's possible without actual armed revolt.

Do it Harry. It's one step closer to an actual functioning government.

2013-11-21 11:15:32 AM
Mr. Coffee Nerves

...the complete "Bewitched" on Blu-Ray with all the Dick Sargent episodes dubbed over by Brian Blessed...

Politics schmolitics, that sounds GLORIOUS!

Senate Republicans counter that if Democrats go through with this change, they'll reciprocate the next time they control the White House and the Senate -- including for Supreme Court picks.

This just in: Republicans are unaware of what a "rules change" means.

Wally Weaver: So what happens when the democrats are the minority party?

They won't be. And even if they were, do you think the GOP will ever win the Presidency again?

Meh, the House only pulls half the shiat they do because they know the Senate will block them. They are just like the guys screaming "hold me back, bro" as they "threaten" to start a fight

Long way off in the Senate imo.

Sex scandals.
