(The Daily Caller)   Town forgets to hold elections. Again. Thus allowing the current mayor and council members to stay in power. Again   (dailycaller.com) divider line 61

Kit Fister: Town: meh the jobs are mostly honorary and dont mean shiat anyway. Why bother if we're happy with who we have?

Fark: THISISANOUTRAGE.JPG how dare they not get contentious and political?

Sheesh, people, not everyone looks at politics as better than sunday NFL or a holy crusade to convert the heathens.

Who, exactly, is outraged, or even angry? I don't see anyone in this thread that seems even a little bit perturbed. The majorty of the posts are just explaining their opinions that this is a small town doing it's own thing, so BFD. If there was active discrimination or some disenfranchisement, maybe we'd give a fark, but if that town is 100% satisfied with the status quo, then who the hell cares?

the801: from wikipedia: As of the census of 2000, there were 274 people, 83 households, and 73 families residing in the town.

it's more interesting when towns that size elect 5 year olds or farm animals as mayor, but 'oops we forgot' is pretty good, too.

Also about the size cults can operate at.

Saberus Terras: THe same person forgot two cycles in a row?

Hell, if I forgot something big like that ONCE I'd be in the soup line for it.

Seems the one(s) responsible for insuring the elections are held aught to be sacked.  Then pelted with dried potatoes.  Then fired.  Into the sun.  Then dismissed from their job for incompetence.

"Crushing's too good for him. First he'll spend a year in the incinerator. Year two: Cryogenic refrigeration wing. Then TEN years in the chamber I built where all the robots scream at you. THEN I'll kill him."

This whole thing just made me think of something from David Eddings, where a king is elected after a 6 year election, and he had forgotten that he entered it as a joke.  When people came to congratulate and suck up to him, they knelt in a field he has just filled with manure...

Anyway, I'll also mention that the dumbass tag relates to every person in the comments section of TFA.  Lots of stupid down there.

timswar: This is just a trial run. After the current round of voter suppression gets shot down by the courts I assume we'll be seeing "forgetting" elections adopted as a new nation-wide strategy.

Obama is doing some small-scale testing to work out the kinks for when we "forget" to have a presidential election in 2016. Someone should really start a chain email and viral Facebook post about this to alert the people before it's too late!!
