30 years that guy's voice has been rattling around in my head. I think it will always be on instant recall. Good jorb, Dan.

Who's gonna play halfback for Duff Dry now?

No more Gumbledorf?!?!?

Woot!

Sadly, I think we are stuck with Shoepisser until *I'm* dead and gone (probably sometime in the next 25-30 years). Unless he gets caught molesting young boys in a motel outside Springfield, Ill. Or he suddenly plants a big, wet, sloppy, kiss on Concussion Boy during their usual pre-game banter and professes his undying love for Troy (NTTAWWT, but the execs at Fox would probably have coronaries bursting at seeing such a scene).

He was great in Webster.

Not sure if that will be an up-grade or a down-grade.

He would occasionally get kinda loopy, but I've always kinda had a soft spot for his work.

I like linemen, what can I say. THey see things others often overlook.

I turn the sound off for some announcers, but never Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf. They were a good team, and Dierdorf was damned good at pointing out obscure things that I later used with good results in my fantasy football endeavors.

I like him as a studio analyst, but yeah.. really not sure how he'd play out as a color man.

Is there a way to get the lawyers at Babip, Pecota, Vorp and Eckstein on the case to stop Reynolds from getting on the air?

I don't know... I mean, for me it's more of a situation of him being an institution.  I personally dislike Fouts more, to be honest.  Fouts is way too full of himself, at least Dierdorff enjoyed being the sports geek he is. He knew he wasn't the best (fark, he played for the Cardinals for Christ's sake), he just enjoyed announcing for the games.

I actually miss hearing Enberg during games - another institution of my childhood.

\but nowhere near as much as I miss hearing The Granddaddy of Them All announcing college games

Certainly wouldn't do a damn thing to inform the audience about stats

Saw the Dorf play donkey basketball at my high school circa 1975 with the rest of the Cardinals. Poor donkeys legs were extremely wobbly. He had a rough night.

Well, since we're halfway there already, can one of the networks hire someone like Bobby "the Brain" Heenan for some worthwhile entertainment value?  He could tell the play-by-play announcer how much of an idiot he is, or maybe hassle the chick on the sidelines or something.

Outstanding. More Gus Johnson

Gus Johnson hasn't been on CBS for a couple of years, he's Fox's CFB main guy now.

I'd switch him for Kenny Albert. Gus, Moose, and Goose would be a great NFL Sunday second team...

Good, this farker never had a decent thing to say about any team Philadelphia even when they were winning.

Joe Buck...

I'd rather hear a clogged toilet than Kenny Albert.  Everyone thinks Joe Buck rode daddy's coattails, Kenny Albert rode daddy's hairpiece.

I had a college roommate who was dating his daughter.  I think she was a volleyball player or something at Michigan.   Tall.  And if I recall I was askeered of her as I thought she'd snap at my slightest misstep and pound me.

1. It's kinda scary your roommate had a daughter while he was in college, and

2.  That he was  datingher.  Wtf?

Dan may love the game but he is a terrible color guy and even worse prognosticator.
Dude sounded like his mouth was shot up with novacaine before every broadcast.

He was known as a very dirty player but back then almost all those guys were dirty.  I'm going to miss him, he came across as a nice guy who enjoyed what he was doing.

The following are both quotes from Dan Dierdorf.

"Marques Colston literally exploded onto the NFL last year."

"It's 3rd & 2. A run or a pass will work right here."

Been tried already, after a fashion. Remember when only occasionally funny hack comedian, certified douchebag, and football know-nothing Dennis Miller was given a spot in the booth on MNF a few years back? Suffice it to say, the result was so farking bad I took to watching the Monday games with the sound off that year.
