(Pajiba)   There's a new show called "The Flipside" coming soon. It's just like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, but from a conservative angle. It "throws political correctness out the window". Gosh, I wonder why no one has tried this before?   (pajiba.com) divider line 314

I made it about 45 seconds into that online preview and then closed out. Is conservative "humor" EVER funny?

The first jokes in the clip, about Hillary, are basically this. "Hillary is running for President! That's a joke, right?"

Conservatives already have their own comedy channel.  It's called "FOX News", and it's hilarious.

Well, in their defense, perhaps they are merely writing the material to suit the intellectual level of their key demographic.

You don't want the public to get Zimmerman fatigue before he delivers the keynote at the 2016 convention.

It "throws political correctness out the window".

...right up until a Democrat calls a member of the Tea Party a Teabagger.

I tried to watch the preview episode.  This guy isn't wrong.  It's not very funny.  It came sort of close twice in the half of the episode I watched, and then lost it.  Painful stuff.

2013-11-20 02:58:20 PM
Has there ever been an attempt at conservative humor/answer to The Daily Show that didn't "throw political correctness out the window"? I love how this is a rallying cry for the right.

I say the show makes it 3 episodes in before dropping the N-bomb and getting cancelled. PLEASE make this show live!

That's basically what Greg Gutfeld does. He's occasionally funny.

Conservative humor whatpassesforthought process

1) Chris Rock is considered funny by many Blacks and Whites alike
2) Chris Rock uses the "n word"
3) Using the "n word" is funny

All of these attempts at creating a conservative Daily Show come off as trying too hard. It's awkward.

2013-11-20 03:24:04 PM
I actually watched the preview episode, the whole thing, for I have a masochistic streak. I'm not entirely sure they understand what a joke is, because they only vaguely approached one, and the audience laughed at incomprehensible times.

2013-11-20 03:27:25 PM
A former coworker rolled through the office the other day and regaled the office with his 'conservative' humor.
"How do you stave a liberal?  Hide his food stamps under his work boots."

And there was much guffawing.

When what's his dick did that to Donald Trump at the White House Correspondence dinner, it was hilarious.

"Donald Trump is running for President as a Republican? I thought he was running as a joke".. Because there was good comedic timing, Donald Trump is insane, and his response was priceless.

But the idea of Hillary Clinton running for President hasn't been funny for about twenty years.

"Comedy? What you know of comedy? For 800 years I have trained satirical comedians. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A comedy show must have the deepest wit, the most serious delivery. This one long time I have watched. All his life he has looked away...to the blah president, to Benghazi. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Nuance. Heh. Subtlety. Heh. Conservative humor knows not these things. You are retarded".

It's not just timing - that's an actual joke, its a play on words. It's told as a joke about Trump, but its constructed as standalone joke that could be about anyone.

Actually, Colbert has also already done a satire of Liberals on his show.

Quite funny actually but he didn't keep it as an ongoing skit for very long.

The Daily Show and Colbert Report go after both republicans and democrats.

The only thing is the republicans provide a shiat ton more content to go after than democrats.

People who complain about political correctness, or wish to throw it out a window, are usually racists that are tired of people pointing out that their racist. So I think I have a pretty good idea of what this is going to look like.

Yes, this fellow named Jon Stewart will call the president to camera 2 from time to time. It's a veritable knee slapper.

I said this in another thread, but watching it was no different than watching the Sean Hannity with a laugh track over top of it.

"Liberal straw man sure are dumb. Am i right? And listen to them talk like 'oh I want a vanilla triple half-caf latte free ranged from locally sourced organic beans" LOL OMG what's their problem?"

2013-11-20 05:30:36 PM
They are making progress though, in that they realize Colbert isn't a conservative - he's making fun of conservatives.

2013-11-20 05:33:35 PM
The assumption is that Stewart and Colbert are agents of a specific political entity - or at the very least, dedicated to spreading a certain message - and that a political comedy should be created to give voice to the "other side."

Much like how the right created Fox News in response to regular media, and conservapedia in response to reality.

I semi-sorta watched that entire pilot. I'm going to go draw an unreasonably hot bath and try to burn off the shame.

/yes, it was as bad as you think, but at least the writers from Half-Hour News Hour are working again

No, the joke is that there are multimedia projects going on the same year Hilary is running, because the media is totally in the bag for Clinton.
Yeah, that's not funny either.

After that I fastforwarded a bit and saw their reporter guy ambushing Harrison Ford for some reason.  Why the f*ck would you want to bother Harrison Ford?  Is he even liberal?  Go badger Sean Penn, he deserves it.

Sweat and dead man's balls would probably be funnier.

Good I hate political correctness.

Can I call people "Retards" again?-- oh wait that will make Sarah Palin cry

Can I say "Happy Holidays' when I want -- Oh no, that will make conservative cry

Can I say "Tea Baggers" -- oh no then the Tea Party will cry.

Oh I see this whole thing of being against "Political Correctness" is just about being able to a bigot without and criticism.

2013-11-20 06:21:39 PM
Republicans do "hate" and "fear" well but that doesn't go with comedy.
