Why would Frothy even show up on Colbert? Doesn't he remember that thing with Dumbya?

The only explanation I can give is that Santorum doesn't get that Colbert is playing a character. That's really not out of the realm of  possibility

He probably views himself as young, hip and edgy.  Either that or he is so stupid, he actually believes Colbert is Conservative.

Watching it, he seemed to be aware of the joke and willing to play along. I think he's trying to look hip and edgy to reinvent his image a little bit before 2016 starts up.

Watching the Santorum interview made me cringe and close my eyes at times.  It was excruciating to watch.  While I do like seeing the Daily Show and the Colbert Report entertain both sides of the aisle, for the first time, I wished the guest had never been given the chance to have an interview.

Did you see the interview?  There was nothing hip or edgy about him.  He was the same Santorum you know and love, though his rhetoric was cooled a bit.  When he started to talk about his perception of the definitions and meanings of marriage, it was clear nothing had changed.

We DVR the Daily Show and Colbert to watch the next day, 11PM is a little late for me to get all worked up over politics.

I am looking forward to tonight's viewing, Frothy always makes me laugh. The man is a veritable caricature of a human being, without the, you know, human feelings.

He use to be a veritable caricature but now he is just one of legions of them.

It is brutal. It was like a 10 year old child with one working leg stepping into the ring with Mike Tyson.

Watching it made me wonder if he's really for real real frothy, or if he's playing a very elaborate game of control.
Controlling his wife and kids, controlling his image in the media, even if It gets out of hand- he can always do this to pull it back.

Because he seemed pretty relaxed.
He didn't sound as cock-punch worthy. He sounded fairly smooth and unrattled.
In other words, he's a sociopath.

In all reality, no one is as bad as their public image. Most people aren't the caricatures you see on TV. Doesn't surprise me that Santorum was cool and collected. He knows he has to be, and he's a career politician. You don't rise to the level he did without being able to talk and appear rational (rational to whom? different question). He clearly had the deer in the headlights look though.

And yes, he could very well be a sociopath. I know I am and it makes me a whiz at my job.

Three thoughts on Rick's film producer career:

Rick Santorum's film shot in the UK and used British cast and crew in order to access UK tax credits.  Patriotism, ladies and gents!  USA! USA! USA?

Opening weekend box office gross was $65K.  Sounds like the free market decided it was even less watchable than Atlas Shrugged.

I don't think the liberal blood-sucking jew lefty commies in hollyweird are exactly shaking in their boots at the competition that Frothy is putting up.

It was fairly obvious in the video.  He's promoting a movie.  Doesn't matter what Colbert's audience thinks.  It's exposure and will get time in the media and spread around the conservative media.

Image control.  Everything is monitored, and kept under control.  Whoever controls the image controls history.  And when the image is under total control, froth...becomes routine.

He fits the pattern where the primary runner-up of the previous election wins the next open primary race.

Reagan came in 2nd to Nixon in 1968, and was the 1980 candidate.
Bush Sr. came in 2nd to Reagan in 1980, and was the 1988 candidate.
Dole came in 2nd to Bush Sr. in 1988, and was the 1996 candidate.
McCain came in 2nd to Bush Jr. in 2000, and was the 2008 candidate.
Romney came in 2nd to McCain in 2008, and was the 2012 candidate.

The one exception was Pat Buchanan, who came in 2nd to Dole in 1996, and chose instead to be the Reform Party candidate, screwing up Florida and giving the win to Bush.

Yep. Santorum displayed some sense of humour, even about himself (genuine or otherwise). He did PR for his book, worked to keep himself on the political radar, didn't make any huge gaffes. Colbert was funny enough, but took it easy on him. For instance, Santorum twice offered up a what-marriage-is sound bite that he clearly thinks is cleverly designed (but is actually a big soft target), and Colbert went very gently.

/that was some ridiculous handwaving at the end

to promote his new film, "The Christmas Candle" on Tuesday night. The erstwhile presidential candidate turned conservative film mogul talked about the 2016 presidential race, his definition of marriage as well at the new film, which is the first production out of the studio that is currently helmed by Santorum.

According to Wiki: It is based on Max Lucado's novel The Christmas Candle. The film is an Impact and Big Book Media Production presented by Pinewood Pictures being distributed by Rick Santorum's film production company EchoLight Studios in the U.S. and by Pinewood Pictures in the U.K.

Being a film distributed in the US by his company is a long way from being "the first production out of the studio that is currently helmed by Santorum".

Sorry, I have yet to see a movie produced by these kinds of production houses that didn't make a porno look deep and meaningful.
