Holy (gold) crap, it happened  again?

WTF? I know I've read this before. Weeks ago. Yet TFA says it happened yesterday.

Are people crapping gold in planes all over the place?

/Tywin Lannister on that flight?
//Pretty sure someone made a Lannister joke last time too.

Although the article lacks specifics, it sounds like the gold was just hidden in bags somewhere in the plane's restroom, not floating in the actual commode or septic tank.  I think they are using "toilet" to refer to the room.

In German folklore they have a guy who poops gold coins.  Wonder if it was an Indian version of him?

I sprinkle diamonds on everything thing I eat. There's two reasons for that. One, it's the most baller shiat you can possibly do. And two, it makes my dookie twinkle, man

cop math.  2.2 pounds is 35.2 oz, gold is about $1250/oz, which come out to about 44,00USD.  Unless the gold was in the form or rare coins or something.

No, Mr Gupta, I expect you to poop!

I am guessing they messed up the article and each bar was 1kg, so 24 bars at ~£25k each gets you about the right value. Either that or it was 1kg of gold and they assumed the previous and got the value completely wrong and the total weight right. Who knows, it is the Metro, it isn't as if they are a bastion of journalism.

...Who...how... 24 bars @2.2lbs/kilo, 1kilo/bar... how did this person move, STAND, anything with over fifty pounds of gold in their colon?

Err, they were found in bags left in the toilet, the passenger hadn't eaten them or used them as a suppository...

And since they were Indian, they just wiped the shiat with their hands.

Filthy indians.

The bars pictured in the Metro article are 10 tolas, or 3.75 oz each. However this BBC article shows bars of different sizes, including at least two kilograms. Unless there are some even larger bars not shown, some cop math is still required to get a total value of $1.1m.

I've seen enough episodes of 'Locked Up Abroad' to know that the gold smuggler got cold feet and left his stash on the plane.
There seems to be a hub for gold smuggling in India. I first read about it in Malachy McCourt's A Monk Swimming.

Or it's really 1 kg of gold, which would be worth about 1 million Rupees.

CSB Alert, Coming back from the UK I found a bag 'o weed when I reached for the skymall magazine.  I figure that someone got cold feet on the previous flight.  I didn't know what to do, so I just left it there.  Hopefully the cleaning staff got it.

Gold is about $1250 per troy ounce... So, 1kg/2.2lb would only be about 32 troy ounces, I think...
