(NBC Chicago)   Tornado destroys house. Family survives by taking shelter in the safe room. Except the dog, who refused to leave her kennel. "We lost Maggie today." Or, 30 hours later, there's Maggie, rolled up in a carpet. "We are all OK. House has looked better"   (nbcchicago.com) divider line 17

This was one reason for us to smile yesterday.
Worked out perfectly after we found beer under rubble.

There's another news clip out there (shown on ABC) with a homeowner looking through his destroyed house and then losing it after finding his cat down in the cellar. That would be me, digging through the rubble to find my cats then breaking down if they were still alive.

/just that one little success
//in a world of devastation

That would be one HUGE success in my book.  Had my dog with me in the room under the stairs in the basement Sunday.  She didn't mind and came right along.  But, last time we needed to be in there I made a mistake and didn't collar her and couldn't get her to come downstairs.  Ordinarily she is very obedient and I will never understand why she wouldn't.  Fortunately, both times we were passed over.

I don't understand this she "wouldn't" come out of her crate idea. If we need to get in our shelter I'm not asking my pup to come with us... I'm telling him he's going to. It's not up to him.

If he won't go when I tell him then I'll just pick him up and bring him in. If he's in his crate either I'm dumping him out the front or carrying the whole thing with us... but making up his own mind isn't an option. Be the farking boss.

Well, that's the thing.  She is a free-range (not ever crated) dog so she really doesn't have a go-to area.

I AM the boss, sometimes even the boss farks up, ok?
