It would be funny if the film company filed a copyright claim and had the clip removed because it's using the original copyrighted audio.

Otherwise this is like building a model of a mesa out of mashed potatoes.  It implies madness on the part of the artist.

padraig: It reminds me of good writers writing fan fictions (if such thing exist). Why waste so much effort in something so derivative ? Why didn't he take the opportunity to do something that was original ?

Sometimes it's because the artist knows that the derivative work will draw attention to their own original works or maybe it is a learning exercise and sometimes it's because the derivative work can surpass the original. Alternate arrangements of musical composition (Trans Siberian Orchestra: Carole of the Bells), a new take on an old story (Superman: Birthright), a band covering a classic song (Karen O's cover of "Immigrant Song"); just because it is derivative, doesn't mean that it isn't worth doing.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like threads on Fark... Time to die.
