Tube slide, meh.

There are some good body slides at Zoombezi Bay in Columbus, the one is pretty much a 45 degree angle slide but with a small "flatten out" bump in the middle.... arching your back to go faster, I am pretty sure I am not touching the slide at all after the bump for a split second, freaks me out a bit.

/but then I go back and do it again.

I'm never afraid of anything at amusement parks. I figure if a ride killed people on a regular basis, I wouldn't be allowed to ride it.

Having said that, I predict a zero percent chance that you could get me on this thing.

I would rather ride that thing solo than with three other people on a sled, though I don't know about the wisdom of doing such a thing.

That's right: The Meg-A-Blaster is a four-person raft slide with an extra hump thrown in for good measure.

 Giggity.

I'm sure they did the physics and all but that hump just makes me think that someone is going to get launched.   I'll pass but thanks anyway.

Fark that looks dangerous as hell. On the plus side, anywhere your skin touches the slide will give you a nice hole to examine your insides.

as scottydoesntknow... and the Weeners in the article comments... action park... enclosed tube water slide with a loop...  along with all the other fun to be had at Action park. (read the wiki)

Wait. It has a jump? I can see sticking to the slide because of gravity but once you launch over that jump what's to keep you from flying sideways off the slide?

fusillade762: Schlitterbahn

Schlitterbahn is pretty awesome, actually. The only way it could be better is if they let you take your tankard from the Biergarten with you on the Fall fluss. That said; it ain't exactly The Great Wolf Lodge.

That's what might send you over the edge. Your leg might be slightly off to one side and when you launch you're spinning a little bit, just enough to make you go a bit off center.

An article about a water slide in Missouri, in November...  How timely?

/anyone been to the Schlitterbahn in BFE, Texas?  It's quite a drive from El Paso, so I want to make sure it is worth it.

I think I just threw up just looking at it.

2013-11-19 06:14:13 PM
First thought: F*ck that.  Second thought: You'll need surgery to have your swim trunks removed from your rectum afterwords.  And maybe to find your nuts which I'm guessing will be tucked safely behind your spleen.

I'd love to see someone wear a GoPro down it, since I'll never do it myself. My palms are sweating just looking at the photos.

TNel: I'm sure they did the physics and all but that hump just makes me think that someone is going to get launched.   I'll pass but thanks anyway.

That was my first thought too. Seems to me it would be a little tough to know how a raft with 4 people, presumably of differing weights and amounts of wiggly-ness, would act when it hits that hump. I might consider it if they enclosed that part, but the way it's shown.....hell no.

"A water coaster is a water slide that mimics a roller coaster by providing not only descents, but ascents as well. There are three different ways water coasters operate: water jets, conveyer belts, and linear induction motors."

Weatherkiss: jigger: Wait. It has a jump? I can see sticking to the slide because of gravity but once you launch over that jump what's to keep you from flying sideways off the slide?

Not really.  I was ejected from a water slide when I was 9 years old that had a similar design (much smaller, of course).  I hit the jump a little off center, landed on the wall of the slide, then bounced off and fell 15 feet to the concrete, which promptly stripped all the skin off my shoulders, back and the back of my head because I was still moving forward at a pretty good clip.  I had to ride in the ambulance to the hospital on my stomach.

This was the 70's, so instead of suing the waterpark when my dad finally got to the hospital he looked at me and asked "WHAT DID YOU DO?" - back then it was automatically assumed that the kid farked up.  It took an entire hellish summer for the skin on my back to grow back.

Clearly the safety and design standards of the 1970's and 2013 are exactly the same. I'm such an idiot for not realizing that. Someone needs to blow the whistle on these guys.

CSB: Was on some carnival ride when i was a kid with a friend, and some carny was going around saying "down" to each person in order to tell them to keep their legs down before the ride started. And after he did it to us i said to my friend "he must have down syndrome". The carny stopped and gave me such a glare, with the stereotypical cigarette hanging from his mouth, but we were already in hysterics.

Calm down, Francis.  I was only pointing out that it's possible to be ejected from a slide, not that it would necessarily happen.

One thing that did change after I bit it was that they put down foam rubber around the bottom of the slide.  Before that it was nothing but concrete all around.
