Sure, sure. They want to REPEAL Obamacare and REPLACE it with...something that doesn't allow insurance companies to deny pre-existing conditions, but at the same time has no insurance mandate and doesn't increase any existing insurance premiums.

In short, the GOP wants the equivalent of a health insurance unicorn and they won't be happy with anything less.

Just out of curiosity, and without looking it up myself, has all the repeal legislation (and rhetoric from these congressmen) been for a *total* repeal or a partial repeal that keeps things like the pre-existing condition provision and such?

I think there have been only two real positions taken.  Repeal in total   and   delay the individual mandate.  Oh, and the most recent....If you like your plan, your insurance company can't cancel it...ever....boogahboogahboogah.

Well, buddy, maybe you should take a long look in the mirror and think about whether you're a big part of the problem. Or maybe you just don't know anything about unicorns, huh? See, unicorns are notoriously difficult animals to catch. You need virgins and pure thoughts and all that kind of crap. And so here's the GOP, working like hell to attract a health care unicorn, luring it closer, almost to the point where they can stroke its muzzle and gently slip the silk lasso around its neck, and what happens? I'll tell you what happens. Some snarky naysayer sashays into the thread and writes some sarcastic, venemoust post that startles the poor creature and sends it running back into the shrubbery. And now they've got to start back at ground zero luring the thing all over again. Jesus. Maybe you don't like the solution, but at least stop being a part of the problem.

Does Bruce Wayne get insurance through Wayne enterprises? Or does he buy on the individual market? (I'm not sure about what his official employment status is with the company).

Not that it is a problem for him to buy individually, since he can afford it. But he does get injured a lot and the PTSD from witnessing his parents murder is considered a preexisting condition.

Is Batkid's family using insurance purchased through the exchange right now?  I didn't think that was possible.  Unless they're using a state exchange (which hasn't been the massive clusterfark healthcare.gov has turned out to be).

A long time ago, I was in Kenya. My friends and I were working for the local government. they were trying to buy the loyalty of the tribal leaders by bribing them with fake documents. But their caravans were being raided in the serengeti by a bandit. So, we went looking for the documents, but in 6 months, we never found any, or met anyone who traded with him. One day, I saw a child playing with a birth certificate from Hawaii. The bandit had been throwing them away.

You know, fark Rolling Stone for this. What was great about Batkid was all the garbage of our crappy day-to-day lives was set aside to do something really rad for a guy that's got it really bad. For anyone, on either "side" of any debate at all, to try and leverage that to make their point is despicable.

Do we actually know if "Batkid's" insurance / medical care is in any way affected by Obamacare, or are we merely imputing that it is so based on a loose reading of the law? I know Rolling Stone doesn't have to be held to the same journalistic standards as actual news outlets, but this is pretty lazy reporting.

I know, right? How DARE a person look past the surface of a story! Stories are for superficial, ephemeral, emotional response only!!! Going any further than that is just a dick move, man.

You can "belive [sic]" anything you want. First amendment and all that. Kids are going to die of cancer whether we have the ACA or not. The question (in my mind) is will we as a nation be better off with more people going to the farking doctor before they get pneumonia and have to go to ER or not? Maybe that kid with the persistent cough will go to the doctor and find out he has leukemia and get the treatment he needs before it's too late?

That's just the GOP trying to lure their dirty adolescent thoughts out of the closet.  It's just too dark for them to realize it's not a unicorn.  And the silk lasso is surely for other... things.

There are no other options on the table at this moment.  No.

If PPACA's opponents would like to get their collective heads out of each others asses long enough to propose another farking option (caveats: actually implement it, not be complete magical thinking),  PLEASE DO SO ALREADY.  We've been waiting for 50 farking years for something better than what we had.  PPACA is, if only slightly, better than that.
