You're saying that Blain and Hawkins were killed by a farking lizard? That's a bullshiat psyche job. There's two to three men out there at the most. farking lizard.

It's certainly something being worked on and possible...maybe not to the extent of HP invisibility cloak levels, but it's conceivable. That said, unless there's video of it working, I'm leery of any claims that it's been developed

I suppose that's easy to do when you don't audit the "Black Budget." At least the story mentioned the BB.

RTFA:
they're designed to foil an expanding roster of electro-magnetic detectors designed to betray one's presence via radio waves. An expanding family of radars, in other words, and its relatives.

In other news, the number of reported rapes in the military dropped by 90% this year.

Also, this just in.. the number of "I was farked by a ghost while I was sleeping" incidents has risen sharply.

I agree.  I was just making light of the fact that if it DID work, you wouldn't be able to see it.

It isn't a visual cloak, it's an EM cloak.  It makes things invisible to radar, not eyes.  Still, it's a first step towards real visual cloaking technology.

I wonder how children of the Wikileaks generation will view the Military and its technology.  It's always been in the forefront of my mind that the F-117 made its first flight in 1981, operation capable in 1983, and was physically revealed to the public in 1990.

Sure, reporting and recording tech has changed, but I would personally side with the belief that we have some shiat that nobody knows about, and it'll be really farking cool when that shiat is revealed to us eventually.

It doesn't work that well though, all it does is stupidly time travel people to start romances.

"Harry Potter fans need to chill-these technologies won't make someone standing in front of you disappear. At least not yet."

Because prior to Harry Potter, there was never any mention in novels or movies about invisibility cloaks...

This is military budget code talk for "We don't know where billions of dollars went."

Based on what I've been told about ACA, if a project isn't perfect after one month then the entire department should be defunded.  Eliminate all DoD spending!  Thanks Obama!

Except that it was semi-common knowledge that the capability existed to anyone who cared to listen in the mid-1980's.  The 1986 Tom Clancy novel Red Storm Rising had stealth aircraft in it, and Testors had put out a model that looked a lot like a modified SR-71 type blended wing aircraft.

No one was really shocked when the F-117 was publicly announced in 1988.

The "billions" referred to in the headline weren't for "invisibility" but for "anti-radar" technology.

Why are they going through all that trouble when all they'd have to do is set up a simple SEP field?

I used to think Defense spending was excessive, but now that I know we have no debt ceiling and there is no downside to deficits...     then I say we spend the money.

mo' money...mo' money.

build us another carrier and throw in a couple planes too.

EM cloaking could also be really handy on a trip to Mars, as a shield from cosmic rays and from solar storms

American tax dollars at work! Cuz the occupation of Iraq would have worked out so much better if the Americans had invisibility cloaks.
