Ok, I live in Dallas and I cannot possibly be the only person who is tired of hearing about the 50th anniversary of the JFK shooting.

/Well, it's either listen to NPR or the latest Nicki Minaj musical abortion.
//Oak Cliff Coffee is OK.

There's going to be a lot of these threads over the next few days, aren't there?

The whole "Who shot Kennedy?" question has pretty much the same appeal as shopping mall Christmas music; a recurring low grade irritant that manifests itself year after year with no relief in sight.

Needlessly Complicated: Ok, I live in Dallas and I cannot possibly be the only person who is tired of hearing about the 50th anniversary of the JFK shooting.

I've found myself thinking "a New England Liberal in Dallas? It's more remarkable it took until that late in the visit for someone to take a shot."

Still, it took a delusional psychopath who'd been called a nut by psychiatrists on both sides of the iron curtain. The sort of guy you could lump with a bunch of the mass shooters over the years.

/Either that, or Aurora never happened
//Notice how tight they are with Sandy Hook?

I live in Dallas (Oak Cliff even) and yes, i'm tired of it too. Mostly I'm tired of the constant "so ashamed so ashamed 'city of hate' so ashamed 'city of hate' 'city of hate'" chant coming from every direction. I find it ironic that the whole "city of hate" thing came from the right yet the left murdered JFK. But mostly, and completely serious here, get over it. It was 50 years ago, tell me about tomorrow I could not care less about yesterday.

Dallas is pretty liberal these days, isn't it? I know it has a high percentage of Democratic voters in presidential election.

One bean, one roast, one grind same filter.  Add a single drop of water, more?  Completely divergent brews.

Parts of Dallas are liberal, but we have mega churches, the Institute for Creation Research, and I swear I've seen a business building flying a Christian Dominionist flag. Even the liberals are a bit conservative.

More of a mixed bag than I imagined.
For some reason I always picture American mega churches outside the city, next to open fields and enormous Walmarts. Is that completely wrong?

no not completely, mega churches are very large (square footage) and are mostly in the suburbs because in the city proper there's just not that much space. Dallas is pretty liberal I think we had the highest rated gay single scene in the nation a few years back (NTTAWWT).

Why hasn't the lamestream MSM media reported this?

Oh you're hardly the only one sick of the annual JFK fellatio. On the plus side, the baby boomers will all be dead soon enough so we must be past peak JFK by now.

This just opens up so many possibilities...

Zimmerman's "Stand Your Grounds" blend.

James Earl gRay tea.

Honest Abe's Coffee Shop. No tables, just booths, and they only serve espresso shots.

Well, I understand that attitude, but it's wrong.  History doesn't actually repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

If you remember the pitfalls of yesterday, they can inform you about what to look out for tomorrow.

You know, if the Japanese had been even barely competent at signals intelligence, there's a very good chance that JFK wouldn't have survived the war:  He might have been discovered and shot, or captured and starved/beaten to death in some POW camp.

As it was, they were so incompetent that they couldn't intercept and decode the radio messages from the coastwatcher that rescued Kennedy and his crew, and act upon them.

You heard the claim here first, folks. Hippies shot JFK.

Not a disaffected, politically confused, small-minded, wanna-be defector nastily nicknamed Ozzie Rabbit by the guys who hazed him in the USMC because he was a weak...little...nobody.

Seriously.

And I suppose you have plenty of hard evidence to prove beyond any possible shadow of a doubt that leftist hippies produced this poster as well:

Now prove it and show your work.

Oswald was a leftie.  Not a hippie, but about as far left as you can get, considering he was a communist who defected to the Soviet Union, and that was the sole member of the New Orleans chapter of the "Fair Play for Cuba Committee".

Doesn't get any farther left than that, unless your name is Mao, Stalin, or Pol Pot.
