You can call it what you want but I'd bet $100 that if you asked 1000 random folks what the ACA was they wouldn't know, but they'd sure as heck know what Obamacare was.

It is hilarious seeing the "I ALWAYS CALLED IT the ACA" folks here on Fark....  If someone you know wants a turd polisher for Christmas, you better let them know the bad news now instead of letting them wait. There are no more left anywhere because the usual suspects already bought them all.

I also find it amusing seeing folks here who throw around the term "teabagger" at any opportunity getting upset about the term "Obamacare."

I call it Obama's Shaft because it will raise my premiums from $0 to whatever I wind up having to pay.  "W"'s Shaft was his tax cut that raised my taxes.  American politicians!  Helping Americans spend their money since 1776!  Before that it was King George and the Crown's taxation.  At least we got representation out of that deal.

Undoubtedly written by the same people who, after fighting this abomination tooth and nail for years, are suddenly outraged, OUTRAGED, that the program isn't signing people up fast enough.

I don't really care what it's called.  HeritageCare, GingrichCare, RomneyCare, ObamaCare.  Take your pick.  They're all accurate.

except the ACA was never officially called "Obamacare" whereas "Teabagger" was what they originally preferred to be called until they realized how ridiculous it was. so not really comparable at all.

some Farker has a linked/cited list of the "Teabagger" naming history that pretty conclusively proves it.

Not sure if herp or derp.

And yes it has to be one or the other.

They aren't outraged, not in the slightest. They called it a long time before this thing went live. If anything they are saying "I told you so.". It was obvious just from a business point of view that the funding just wasn't going to work even if the website worked perfectly. It needed about 375,000 PER DAY to sign up in order to meet the goal set of 30 million new people in the insurance pool (and that ignores the people who got cancelled and had to go into the exchanges to replace the cancelled policies).

Now, there are going to be millions of people who either don't have healthcare because the system is clogged up and they won't be able to even find out by Dec 15th what they owe and to whom or because they can't afford the new premiums or any other number of reasons. This is going to cause the government subsidies to the ins. Co's to go even higher. Very few pro-ACA people talked about that bit of the law that had the sliding scale subsidies in it other than to say that the Ins. Co's could only make so much of a profit and then they would have to rebate the excess to the premium holders and then not mention the other side of that coin. The flip side of that coin is that they are also guaranteed a minimum profit as well, and that will come from the taxpayers in the form of higher subsidies.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven and in the end the insurance companies are going to be laughing all the way to the bank no matter how it ends up for the rest of us.

Citations needed. No, Fox News doesn't count.

That's a bit dishonest. Obamacare is different from all those other examples and you know it.

True.  ObamaCare was proposed by a Democrat.
