Now, here's an excellent opportunity for Pope Frankie to put his money where his mouth is.
Not necessarily paying out all the judgements, but at least publicly shaming those at the top of this particular diocese's hierarchy for using this sneaky excuse to get out of the judgement.

I love that the liability goes no further than the one diocese. I guess the church has been playing this game long enough, with very capable (if morally bankrupt) people in it's employee. It really shouldn't surprise me that they long ago figured out how to shield the church from as much liability as possible.

Yep.
And I'd reckon to guess that if the church assigns you to the most remote and desolate archdiocese in the Lower 50, you done farked up elsewhere.

There is a village in alaska where pedo priests http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Content?oid=1065017ere sent until the news died down.

It is estimated that no boys were left unraped.

Is good strategy being confused with skullduggery here?

It sure seems like a criminal enterprise.

Well, that's an interesting strategy for dismantling the Catholic Church: sue them into bankruptcy. If only we could make it work on Mormons and Scientologists....
