I'm guessing the over/under on "YouTube video of Mayor Rob Ford rampages naked through Hockey Hall of Fame after shotgunning bottles of Witch Hazel" is three hours, nineteen minutes.

That's Randy on the left, he runs the family business, and has had substance abuse issues in the past.
Doug on the right is a rookie city councilor that when ever he's interviewed talks about the mayor as "we"
That's daddy Doug in the picture behind them he built the family printing business, and was a one term back bench Conservative MPP...
And of course we all know Tubby McCracken in the middle there.

Sooooo....Putin?

Thanks for the info. And to think I used to imagine Canadian politics to be dreadfully boring. I'm beginning to think that Trailer Park Boys is actually full of biting political satire that I just wasn't picking up on.

His plan going forward is to lose 30 pounds because he's convinced the "lefty media" and his political opponents are just persecuting him because he's fat. Pay no attention to his behavior, his attitude, and his criminal associations, those are aren't relevant.

I wish I was kidding.

Agreed. These are from yesterday.

http://www2.macleans.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/fordcouncilmeetin g. gif
The first one occurred while his brother was speaking to a 2nd councillor who received a "warning" at a RIDE checkpoint but was not charge. Rob Ford is the one that admitted he "might have had some drinks and driven, which is absolutely wrong."

http://www2.macleans.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Ford.gif
The second is when Rob Ford was rushing to "save" his brother who was taunting the public who are allowed at city council meetings. He's not even looking at her after he hits her, what an idiot.

It's from when he was sworn in back in 2010, There has been many late night trips to the KFC since then.  He'd be about 260 in that pic.  He's over 300 now

Well, up until the remarks over the past week or so, he had a legitimate opportunity to play the rehab card and reinforce his position with his base. Hell, he may still have the chance.

I am fairly certain that Rob Ford saw this classic sketch on MadTV and then used that premise as a game plan on how to become mayor and run the city.

I think we'll be wading through a sex scandal first.  The "friend" that was referred to as a prostitute in the one report about the St. Paddy's day incident, turns out she's a burlesque dancer/stripper for stags and parties that may well provide umm... additional services.

If it's the same Elena in the police documents, she's also been charged with prostitution in the past. I'm shocked that RoFo lied about that as well.

He'd be the guy I'd call if I needed my sidewalk fixed.
That the Mayor of the 4th largest city in North America has time to call everyone back about every petty little thing suggests there are a lot of big picture things not getting done.

I could be wrong, but I think they're two different people. IIRC the girl's name is Alana, not Elena, and I don't think she's old enough to have an adult arrest record dating back to 1993 (I'm assuming a juvenile record would have been either sealed/unavailable or at least redacted from the public release of the documents).

That said, I love this article about how the media needs to stop giving the Ford brothers a pass on their blatant, frequent, and oft-repeated lies.

ManateeGag: you see, when he said "done with alcohol", he meant that he was out of booze and had to go get more.

^^this

As someone who was formerly married to a physically and verbally abusive alcoholic, I heard "I'm done" so many times it lost its meaning. At first, it's "I'm done", then "I'm really done." Then it's "give me a second chance, I can really change", and so on and so forth.

Ford should face facts and admit he's an alcoholic. His peers might be able to muster a shred of respect for him. He needs rehab, not a gym.

His brother seems to be his enabler/encourager. Good luck, Toronto.

Nope. He's your standard "starve the beast" conservative. Cut something, promise the money will be there and the service we're cutting will be replaced with something better. Only the money won't be there, and neither will the new service, but hey, he got rid of the things he didn't want.

He cut the vehicle and land transfer taxes by saying we could magically make up the shortfall without tax increases or service cuts, just by magically trimming the fat nobody said was there. Once they did, lo and behold, the fat wasn't there and the only reason we didn't have to slash services drastically was due to the previous administration's budget surplus that the current administration didn't pretend was there.

He cut a major city-wide transit plan because it wasn't his idea, and because above ground transit gave him road rage. No seriously, he cited road rage being stuck behind a streetcar as the reason for this plan. Instead, he wanted impossible-to-fund pet subway projects to places that didn't need that volume of transit. Also, bike lanes had to go in certain places, just because.

He's Tea Party North, voted in by suburban voters who believe that city services should start at their own driveway and extend as far as their job and the mall.

Fair enough. Who knows as everything that comes out of his mouth is utter bullshiat. I just assumed that he as lying when he said she wasn't a prostitute.

Great article. The problem is that the Fords will only talk to people who give them softball questions - anything that challenges their lies is met with screams of "liberal media"!

Daddy up in the pic at the top, was a one term MPP because he was too conservative for the Progressive Conservative party.  The slash and burn fiscal policy didn't fall too far off that tree.

The current Canadian right really isn't that different from the American right. It's more "because oil" than "because Jesus", although the latter is quietly creeping into the federal CPC platform.

Sounds like a solution would be to separate the municipalities again.  That way Toronto can govern Toronto, and the many Not-Torontos around Toronto can govern their own individual Not-Torontos, and everybody can be happy/unhappy at a more local level.

Toronto, this is what you get when you elect conservative morons. Next time, try electing someone who can actually empathize with you.
