Well, it's not like he said we should target public officials for shootings or anything.

" Well, it's not like he said we should target public officials for shootings or anything."

Well, that's just the result of being a lazy slacker.

/public officials = refuse.

Diogenes: Well, it's not like he said we should target public officials for shootings or anything.

I think that's the most depressing thing about this. He wasn't wrong to call her out for her bullshiat slavery comment. She should apologize for being a brain-dead dumbass, but heaven forbid we hold former politicians accountable, but we have to fry journalists for calling them out on it.

The left is melting down and lashing out in a very ugly way. The obamacare death spiral is taking its toll. Please try to do a better job dealing with it. Man up or something. Try to retain a shred of decency if you can.

What a nerdy way to insult someone. Its much easier to just say she's full of shiat

My headline was:

"Martin Bashir apologizes for suggesting Sarah Palin eat her words"

2013-11-19 08:57:27 AM
FTFAI've long been amazed by Bashir's brand of name-calling. He despises Republicans, we get it. But the highly personal nature of his assaults, while delivered in an erudite British accent, stands out even by the loose standards of cable news. [emphasis added]

And just how did the standards of cable news get so loose?

2013-11-19 08:59:07 AM
She should be apologising, it's just most 'mur'cans don't care to understand history (or at least that part).

That's the point he was and has made.

Bashir has just proven how stupid 'mur'icans are when it comes to the history of world. To not call her out for saying stupid shiat and then having the proles and rubes cheer her on, would be ....well Foxish.

Funny...you never complain when shiat comes out of her mouth.

Damn you Martin Bashir and your erudite British accent.

Don't you know all Americans want to pretend they're long haul truckers listening to the folksy sayings of a truck stop waitress at 3 am at some stop in the wilderness of northern Idaho or Iowa.

2013-11-19 09:03:55 AM
A "professional" journalist actually said something like that?  What, was he auditioning to be a correspondent on the Daily Show?  I couldn't imagine even Jon Oliver saying something that crude.

2013-11-19 09:07:21 AM
Bashir basically takes the Fark politics tab and broadcasts it.

The subby's headline just proves it.

former British PM John Major, on three members of his cabinet:

"Calling three of my colleagues bastards was absolutely unforgivable," he said. "My only excuse is that it was true."

As they say, "BOOM BOOM"

Remember, kids!  Since all Liberals are a hivemind, what Bashir said is what ALL Liberals are saying!

2013-11-19 09:15:33 AM
For those keeping score, "wage slave" = appropriate, acceptable metaphor, "debt slave" = morally repugnant, insensitive, ignorant bullshiat deserving of corporal punishment.

The bigger takeaway is that asshats like Bashir (and his defenders/fellow travelers here) would rather bash Palin's head in than consider, even for a moment, the practical and moral implications of leveraging current benefit spending by mortgaging our children's future earnings.

2013-11-19 09:20:06 AM
See? That's why if so difficult to call out on imbeciles like Palin. You have to be very careful with the language you use. No matter what terrible things she does or says, you get a lot of flack for calling her out on it and the original point you were trying to make gets lost in the fake outrage.

Pants full of macaroni!!: Remember, kids!  Since all Liberals are a hivemind, what Bashir said is what ALL Liberals are saying!

Your efforts at changing the subject score you a 3.5/10.  And for the record, Bashir has gotten a pass from libs generally for past beyond-the-pale shiat like declaring an equivalency between the NRA and Hitler, so the lack of any real opprobrium for this latest (and, in many ways, most egregious) screed from the left does reflect poorly on libs generally.

Seriously, the woman was inveighing against paying today's bills with our children's not-yet-earned money.  Bashir heard the word "slavery" and then, nearly literally (but, sadly, not quite), turned off his brain and started spewing rotted offal.  You can object to her analogy as inapt, or even insensitive, but what Bashir did was ignorant and offensive.  And by offensive I mean offensive in the way that calling your kid's (African American) second grade teacher the n word who should be lynched because she refused to give your kid credit for homework that he failed to turn in would be offensive.  Which is to say, pretty goddammed offensive.

OMG she said our borrowing is bad for our children!!!  How evil!  How horrible!

Ahh. I see we have moved on from the Costco Bible thread to a new pretend outrage.

Yes, that rapidly shrinking deficit spending is a real danger.

I'm not defending Bashir here, what he said was pretty foul, but it really doesn't matter HOW you call out right wingers, they will always take it as another sign of their oppression and whine about it. They certainly won't listen to your point.

8.5/10

I would've used lynching in there, but that's just me.  Otherwise, good work.

Martin Bashir is totally protected.

He is not a white guy and he has a not American accent. Both are free pass cards for liberals.

No hate like liberal hate, as usual.

It's only okay when they do it.

Martin Bashir reminds me a lot of Piers Morgan. I think it's a British tabloid thing that sort of resembles American partisan "outrage", but is so gross and targeted at one specific person that it just comes off as weird. It's like what the New York Post does, if it had a face and a television show and colossally oversized self-regard.

It's hard to say which of them is worse. Morgan's slimier, but Bashir is like if one of Keith Olbermann's farts gained solid form and started delivering special comments of its own.
