Meanwhile, Vesuvius bides its time... Silently watching Naples grow around it.

I feel so uncomfortable. I get that this is something that we are trying to get around and internationalize, but seriously folks, shouldn't this be Mt. Aetna? You know, like the insurance company who named themselves after the goddamned mountain???

It seems clear that the volcano gods are angry and we need to feed them a virgin or two pretty quickly.

I suppose some folks are going to keep arguing that global warming isn't real.

A good friend of mine sent me his best photo from the same night. Waaay cooler than those, but I'm probably not allowed to post them :(
He should sell it to someone.

Did your friend say "Don't post this photo"?

Because "probably not allowed" may be just in your head.

Here's the thing. Your friend is probably a great photographer of Mt. Aetna. But he'll never be anything unless people recognize his genius.

Not far from the anus which, in and of itself, is unremarkable.

I don't see either of those. Is this a Fark thing? Pretending there are features that don't exist?

No, they actually exist. I'm just going to assume you're on mobile. I never see the buttons on my Android Browser, but they always show up on any Desktop Browser I happen to be using, to the right of the username.

You can also click on the remove button just under your own posts to remove them. Might be useful in this thread, we kind of went off topic.

I was a Navy brat and lived at the foot of Mt. Etna some 30 years ago. This 9 year old was pretty impressed with a constantly erupting volcano that I could see from our balcony.

And my town had a frickin' castle.

That looks like Motta (Sant Anastasia). My daughter and son-in-law got married there and he spent a couple of years at Sigonella. Their apartment was at the bottom left in that pic.
What a great place Sicily is....
