GSP sold his soul to Satan and never read the fine print.  He can't have it both ways.  Hendrix got robbed and deserves a rematch.  He should retire and tell White to go piss up a rope. But you can't hold a belt and not defend it because you're having a fun baby or your folks are dying. Satan has a contract.

I called it in the fight thread. Just a tad smug.

he is also dealing with an unplanned pregnancy -- he recently learned that he impregnated an unnamed woman, and she wants to keep the child.

She doesn't have a name? Or we don't know her name? I mean, just because you don't know a person's name doesn't mean that they don't have a name.

Of course she wants to keep the child....and the boat load of money that will come with it.

That is what TMZ is reporting... Other sources said it was something a bit more... hidden, if you know what I am saying. Dana said it wasn't family related, too, from what I heard.

I like how we're all glancing over the dying father thing.

You know, because its cool, and parents die all the time.   He shouldn't have to take any time off for that.

White is lucky GSP didn't atomically fuse his face with a brick wall for talking sh*t about his father dying like that.

Yeah, rumors are that GSP is gay and wants to come out. Which would make sense with the "overreacting" and "not a big deal" thing that Dana said. And TMZ is known for being wrong, so it is possible.

No, She's a Unna'med woman, one of the eskimo tribes we have up here in Canada.  They come down during the spring melt to get impregnated by our hockey players, big city mayors and cage fighters.  It keeps the bloodlines strong.

Oh, looks like TMZ is wrong, according to GSP's sister:

http://www.fightline.com/gsp-2/

Myriam St-Pierre, the younger sister of UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, told La Presse out of Canada their father is not ill.
TMZ, a gossip-fueled website, reported on Monday that the "personal" matters St-Pierre discussed this past weekend were centered around his impending passing of his father and an unplanned pregnancy.
"My father is doing very well" Myriam St-Pierre said. "We have received many phone calls, and this rumor must stop. It is causing us pain."
Myriam St-Pierre added that her father "watches my children. He would not watch them if he was about to die."

The rumors about GSP being gay are pretty wide-spread and have been around for a long time. He is the Troy Aikman of MMA, and it is relevant to this topic.

If there's no time frame to holding a card there, he should wait a year.

Festivus will be really awkward. The list of grievances could go on for a while.

Hopefully GSP can clean up in the feats of strength. But after that last fight he might be the underdog

My brother caught the fight in a bar and knew that GSP lost...knew it.  When he heard he won he was flabbergasted, then I saw the highlights the next day and I was like "GTFO!  He got his ass whupped!"  Dana looked like he saw a ghost or something; he was lost for words.  Fark, he even admitted Hendricks had won that fight.

Most level-headed folks have GSP winning 3 and 5, with 1 creating the controversy. In today's version of the ten-point must, 48-47 for GSP isn't the craziest thing.

What this fight was is a perfect argument for half-point scoring. Under that system, Hendricks wins even if he just takes 2 of the 5 rounds because he was truly dominant during those rounds. And make no mistake, he did win "the fight" as a whole.

But before we get there, semi-capable judges are needed.

if anything this fight was a draw, I've seen it 9 times now

Round 1 very even Hendricks had it in strikes,(GSP 19) (Hendricks 28_ but GSP had a submission attempt and each had 1 takedown

Round 2&4 Hendricks very easy

Round 3&5 GSP very easy

Round one was pivotal and could have gone either way. Hendricks should have fought more than 70% he claimed at the press conference he might have got the job. But no he coasted and thought his arrogant ass won.

Hendricks only robbed himself by coasting

2013-11-19 01:13:20 PM

the biggest redneck here: What this fight was is a perfect argument for half-point scoring.

Half-point scoring has been tried and it resulted Ryan Jimmo beating Sokoudjou in yet another "WORST DECISION EVER".  It needs to be tested out and worked out before there can be any widespread implementation.

Anyway, GSP beat Hendricks in a very close fight that reasonably could have gone either way.   There's nothing else to it.  It's nothing we haven't seen before (Edgar-Penn 1, Henderson-Edgar 2) and it's nothing we won't see again in the future.  Round 1 was the contested round, and anyone who says it's a clear win for either guy just wants it to be a clear win for either guy.

As for GSP's personal issues, I hope that he takes whatever time is necessary to deal with them, and if that includes retirement, then so be it.  All I want for any athlete is for them to retire on their own terms.
