I just knew this would be a story from Beaver Canyon.  Sure the East Halls towers are attractive for falling out of, but there's no balconies and the windows make getting out particularly tricky.  Poor kid: go out partying, end up dead.

Happens every couple of years. There was a kid dead in a stairwell for two days before they found him. He fell down the middle, didn't think you could do that.

Yup. Because where else would you go to fall off of balconies while completely drunk out of your mind in State College on a Friday night?
Though, I don't know about East Halls, but if the windows are as easy to climb out of there as they are in the dorm in South I was in, it can't be all that difficult... But with the attempt to make the dorms dry in the last couple years, it makes partying and drinking a lot harder on campus.

If I remember correctly, he had to climb a wall to get there or some similar feat of "Wait, how the hell-??" before falling down the stairs. I definitely remember all the people out looking for him and the sudden increase in number of helicopters hovering around campus.
And in the off years, there are plenty of broken limbs from falls.

I went to highschool with a guy who fell off one of the balconies and was paralyzed for the remainder of his life.  The railing gave out while he was leaning on it and he fell like 4 stories onto the street.

Really nice guy.

Why is it relevant that he was a jumper?  Sounds like his problem was the landing.

There was a girl that fell out of a 4th-floor window to her death in '97 at the apartment building next to Penn Tower when I was there.  My roommate, having gone out for his only party the whole semester, literally saw her fall from across the street.  One of my NROTC friends performed CPR on the victim to no avail as well.

Another kid committed suicide off of the 10th floor of Sproul Hall that year.

Do you remember that kid who tried to escape and underage drinking raid by climbing out his dorm window on a bedsheet rope?

I vaguely remember references made to it from time to time when they talked about cracking down on underage drinking, but I think it happened before I got there (fall 2007).
