Yeah and Benghazi was the lynch pin in taking down the 0bamugabe presidency, too.

Change a strategy just because it keeps failing? That's for RINOs and homosexuals. If you hit a brick wall the only real conservative option is to back up a few steps and get a good running start before you hit it again.

it's a big story right now because of the launch issues which the gop was able to parlay into a bigger ad campaign about the "obama lied people got access to better healthcare" thing. I don't think it has the staying power to last till the election though.

If the 2014 election were today I'd be worried of a 2010-esque result for the dems.

But 2014 isn't today, 12 months is an awful long time in today's political climate, there will be a dozen other "scandals"on both sides of the aislebetween now and then.  Repubs going all-in on this one, especially one that seems to have an inherently short-term lifespan built in over something fixable like website problems, probably isn't the best strategy.

on every single channel, every single day, there is a story (or ten or a hundred) about the "rocky rollout" of obamacare. for five farking weeks straight. liberal media? holy shiat, you've got to be kidding me!

the truth:

1) the website sucked for a few weeks, now it's working a helluva lot better and will be fixed very soon.
2) when obama said you could keep your plan, he wasn't lying. those plans were grandfathered in under the ACA. if your insurance company CHANGED your plan or you bought a new one AFTER the ACA became law, then it isn't obama's fault if it gets canceled.

after this month, anyone who claims that the media is in any way shape or form "liberal" is a motherfarking liar.

plus, you have to remember that the GOP will shut down the government or force a debt ceiling crisis again between now and the election and remind the country what insane assholes they are.

I agree with the headline. So depressing. We Americans are just too stupid to do the right thing anymore. And I don't believe that boomers dying off will really help. This sentiment that social services are evil is a farking virus. Americans of all political stripes believe in their hearts that Government programs are doomed to failure.
This is why we can't have nice things. And trust me, we do not have nice things. Spend some time in Western Europe, or Japan, or S.Korea.

By November 2014, most of the people pissed off about Obamacare will realize their grannies have not been killed, and will at the least, suspect that their local Republican candidate is simply full of shiat.

And the rest are, and were, already solidly Republican voters, so there's no ground to be gained there.  They voted for you in 2008, 2010 and 2012 - if you haven't won congressional seats with their votes by now, then you're not going to in 2014.

As an example: the lady in my Sunday School class who has a son with Downs Syndrome.  She asked to add the parents and children in her sons therapy to our prayer list - apparently a lot of them are having the number of times they can go to therapy in a week reduced because, and I quote, "Barack Obama decided that insurance companies will no longer be allowed to pay for therapy for people with disabilities because they aren't worth as much."

That's because sweeping changes to national policy in the face of rampant opposition from the ignorant and bigoted cannot possibly go smoothly. I takes either cooperation, or a long time for it to transit to a point that it's goal is acheived.Did the North pass legislation to allow some slave owners to continue owning slaves for another year if the slave wasn't as immediately free as originally promised?

Even Fark was doing it. 5 or so greens a day about the same damn thing. There is more outrage over the website than the $24 billion loss from the pointless and wasteful republican lead shutdown.

Sometimes it feels that the country's default zero energy position is always right wing and you need to spend untold energy just to go somewhat left.

Perspective: The Obamacare Website vs. WWII

March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days. December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this progressive federal government to build a working webpage.

The Nazis were defeated in less time than it has taken for our federal government, with millions tax dollars, to build a working website.

I've repeatedly seen the grandmother's name in letters to the editor, repeating whatever the Glenn Beck inspired conspiracy of the month is.  Some of them were even stupid enough that the paper added in their own rebuttal.  Aside from some behavior problems, which could almost be ascribed to any ten year old, the kid may be the sanest of the bunch.

"It forces thousands to lose the plans they love and the doctors they know," says the 30-second spot running on television and radio in Rahall's West Virginia district.

let's be honest with each other here.  does anybody actually love their health care plan?  let's be realistic.

people don't like their health care plans, they simply have them and are satisfied with them.  if my insurance company called and said they were cancelling my plan, i would be annoyed because that means i would have to go and sign up for obamacare and find a new plan.  i would be angry at the inconvenience, not angry because i specifically lost a plan i liked.  that's really what people are mad about, it's not that they had a specific plan they really liked and now they lost it, they're mad because they are being inconvenienced because of the new law.  the republicans are acting like people treat their health insurance plans like members of their family, and are devastated that their plan is cancelled, like their dog just died or something.

There is still a year left before the midterms and considering the attention span of the electorate this ACA rollout mess and the backtracking on the "you can keep your insurance" promise may mean nothing.

The most damaging thing would be if signups remain low, younger people do not sign up in the numbers to make it financially viable or group plan costs outside the government spike.

Retreating Democrats aren't helping right now. And if the elections were a few weeks away this would probably be very damaging for Democrats. They sound concerned, at least.
