The Banana Thug: karnal: The Banana Thug: LandOfChocolate: FeedTheCollapse: SpdrJay: I just finished watching the entire series again.

Doesn't really hold up too well after 25 years....kinda silly and boring.

I think some of the weirder moments (i.e. any scene in the red room) still hold up very well, but everything else is definitely late-80s/early-90s. Still otherwise good though.

I watched it for the first time about a year ago.  It was great until they solved the Laura Palmer mystery and then it went off the rails.

Same here.  Watched for the first time couple years ago.  The show tried to be too many different things - a mystery/horror, a comedy, a Northern Exposure-like drama, a police show, an ensemble show.  But that's what made it so appealing, I think.  You're watching a show with familiar settings and characters, but you're getting a nice variety out of it every few weeks.  But agreed - it really went off the rails after the Laura Palmer thing got solved.  The first episode still has the two scariest moments of any show I've ever seen.  Remember Bob at the foot of the bed?

what was the second scariest moment?

It was the very end of the episode, where Laura's mom had a premonition (or a telepathic experience?) of a mysterious person walking through the dark forest at night, shifting his hands into the dirt, and recovering Laura's necklace that was buried there - and then Laura's mom let out a blood-curling scream.  The editing was what sold it - spooked right the fark out of me.

It was never explained why Laura's mom had that kind of mental connection, but that's what made the show so good.  Just a "WTF wasn't expecting that" thing.

Even creepier...watch that scene again.  Look at the pictures on the wall instead of her mother.  You'll see why she's screaming.

This thread needs a lot of Sherilyn Fenn to achieve relevance.
