How are FSU and UCF the two best teams in Florida? Am I taking crazy pills?

8-2 with only games against a weak Wake Forest and mediocre North Carolina left?  Duke has nicely put themselves in position to get murdered by FSU in the ACC Championship game.

As a 'Canes fan I can assure you that quite the contrary is true, submitter.

As mindfarks go, the idea that Duke is in line for a spot in the conference championship game at all is the weirdest sex I've had in ages.

With two weeks left, Duke and Mizzou are both in great position to get to their conference championships.  They would both get crushed, but who saw this coming at the beginning of the season?

That would be hilarious if FSU got overconfident and lost to Duke in the conference championship. Then we'd probably see Bama - Baylor in the NC. Which would be a hell of a game.

No one is talking about the Pac-12.

The second best team in the ACC would be perhaps .500 in the Pac-12, and probably below .400 in the SEC.  But you know that dominant performance against Bethune-Cookman and beating up Idaho are gonna look great come BCS time.

ACC is a weak assed conference that makes a good team look great.

Every conference other than the SEC is weak.  That doesn't mean FSU will get crushed by Alabama.  FSU has SEC quality talent all over the field.

Who would you rather see against Alabama?  Baylor is a poor man's FSU and Ohio State would get raped by Alabama.

Meh, once you get past the two or so best teams, every conference sees a massive dropoff.  Hell, the second or third best SEC team almost lost to Washington State at home.  Also, I don't think you can say USC is the second best team in the Pac-12 when they're tied for second in their division behind a team most think will win when they play later.

They aren't even close to the best team in CFB, at best they finish with 3 losses in the SEC, 2 in the pac12, 1-2 in the big12, they may be able to win the big10 but thats because they suck too.

If you're really a bookie making bama a 14 point underdog then you will be broke and most likely have guys after you once that game is over since bama would win by 20+.

Its weird UGA is going to kill GT in w couple weeks but its not like it would make a difference, very good shot they may try to hire Kirby from bama but a GT loss would guarantee that scenario.

FSU is scary good. They're scoring at will, their QB is a stud, and they have the confidence of knowing they're a powerhouse program, if one that has been in eclipse of late.

That being said, Bama has a insane defense, they're the defending champs and have won 3 of the last 4 national titles. They're clearly still the team to beat, until and unless FSU or Baylor takes them down. Either could do it, although neither is a given and both would be underdogs.

Certainly, either has a better chance of doing it than do Tennessee, Auburn, or (presumably) LSU. And that's it for their schedule. It's one of those teams, or no one.

I just want to say I watched the Baylor game this weekend and they were entertaining as hell and have unbelievable speed all over the field. I don't know if they beat Bama or FSU or OSU but they're much more entertaining than any of those teams.

Especially farking Alabama and their 4 yards and a cloud of dust with the fleet of five star o lineman they manage to recruit.

Baylor has yet to play Okie State and Texas. If they lose either game, they won't even be Big 12* champions, let alone Nat'l Cham. contenders. But if they win out (not unlikely but not a given either) and FSU loses (very unlikely), you're probably right.

Florida fan, eh? If Florida was going to do something, why didn't they score a single point in the second half yesterday? Granted, the fourth or fifth team in the SEC is probably comparable to the best team in the ACC, but I still think FSU will beat Florida...

Well no...I'm an Oregon supporter. But I was referring to the fact that the sexual assault investigation will be wrapping up and FSU might not have their darling playmaker available to play.

Anybody making Bama a 14-point under dog had better be setting that line against an NFL team.

I can see FSU losing two in the SEC (Bama being the obvious candidate and one more based on simple probability of running the table on almost any schedule).  Maybe 1 or 2 in the Big 12 (ask me again once Baylor's through the tough part of their schedule).

Pac 12?  No.  If you think Stanford was able to bully Oregon in the trenches, I'm not sure there'd be enough ambulances for what FSU would do to them.  And Stanford and USC are both too small and slow.

The first line explains why the rest of your post is delusional bullshiat. I think fsu is really good an could beat bama, but the rest of that is a big reach when bama scored 30 in all but two games and has plate one game closer than 13 points

If Baylor manages to beat OK State, they'll likely jump them next week.  The gap is only .0013 now in the BCS, and they've pulled ahead in the computers.

pc_gator: How are FSU and UCF the two best teams in Florida? Am I taking crazy pills?

If UF and UM were healthy, UCF would be 3rd or 4th.  Muschamp can't figure out offensive coordinators to save his life, but that was a top defense before all the injuries set in (and it's still not bad).

UM wasn't all that good to begin with -- keep in mind FSU played terribly and still beat the 'Canes by four touchdowns -- but now that it's lost its two best players (Johnson and Dorsett), the collapse is on.

UCF's a good team though.  Looking forward to seeing them when bowl season rolls in.

Florida is this year's Notre Dame. A good, not great, team propelled by nostalgic hype. After they get curb-stomped in the national I expect their fans to fade into woodwork in the same way.

Meanwhile, FSU hasn't trailed at any point in their last 6 games and has only had one of their games decided by less than 27 points.  FSU's "near upset" was a 14 point win in which they led the entire second half.
