So I'm actually going to watch this purely out of spite because of the state of US Motorsports.

So I'm going to watch this purely because...well, fark. It's racing, dammit.

2013-11-17 12:59:35 PM
But I will continue to watch F1 on Univision because I've gotten used to Spanish speaking announcers.

I''ve been watching the Sky stream, and they just showed something awesome. Thanks to the humidity at certain places on the track you can see the vortexes coming off the cars. Showed a Red Bull and Ferrari going through the same turn from the same angle. Red Bull? Nothing. Ferrari, big ass vortex. And that's part of why the Ferraris aren't doing so well.

Constructors championship, Red Bull would be in first place based upon Vettel's points alone.

Did NBC screw up anyone else's Qualifying feed yesterday, or was it just my DVR? I jumped from 9:00 left in Q2 to Vettel celebrating a pole over the course of a commercial break...

Yes, they did this.  Middle of Q2 to showing Vettel walking in to the press room.

I saw someone waving a white flag above the Union Jack. I take it, then, that Williams and McLaren surrender.

What's funny is that most of the teams have their HQs in England. Red Bull is officially an Austrian team but their HQ is in England.

If anyone hasn't seen this, someone on r/formula1 did some digging into the public face of Quantum Motorsports (who purport to be ready to sign a major investment deal with Lotus).  He's got a spectacular history of fraud and con jobs.

What are the odds of Vettel dropping to the back and doing a victory burn out on lap one?

That really doesn't bode well for Lotus.

And thank god for streams, or thanks to the wonderful weather here in Chicago, I wouldn't be watching the race as currently the NBC station is doing weather.

Ok I'm finally going to watch a race on NBC. Do they do commercials or non-stop? If commercials I'll probably switch to a stream.

Commercials, however their commentators are really good. Especially Steve Matchett.

NBC Sports has been really good with F1 and Indy.

I went to an Outlaws show in Calistoga where that happened. Really cool looking, but that shiathole is so poorly lit nobody got a decent picture of it.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to try the tv audio with the stream. Man sky and the bbc got me all spoiled on commercials haha

When did Nigel Mansell develop a personality? Also Johnny Herbert in a cowboy hat is hilarious.

That thread really shined a light on all the "fund transfer delays" that Quantum has been claiming to encounter.

I'm watching Sky myself because right now I have to owing to the aforementioned weather coverage on the local NBC station.

I love that Navy carrier commercial. Mostly because I worked on every single fixed-wing program on the deck.

Is it just me or did Bernie look like he was eating a lemon as he had to complement Texas?

I suggested putting in a 250 foot tower up in the middle of Laguna Seca and putting my committee's office in the top of it. Nobody liked the idea.

He would fit right in with F1 and Lotus. Lets not forget before it was Lotus it was Renault run by Flavio Briatore

One impressive thing about the last couple days was the crowds. I can't recall any race this year that had as many people around for Friday practices as this weekend did.

No chance it will ever happen. New Jersey and F1? How freaking crooked can you get?

Predictions on who's going to have the best improved position? Who's going to have an unexpected hardware failure just when it looks like they are doing well? Both of those seem to be common occurrences lately.

I missed it - was it a custom build?  Because AFAIK, there's not even a TBD frame in a museum, let alone a flying copy.

Rosberg.

Webber. Who else?

Sky was talking about Red Bull being really worried about Vettel's gearbox. Funny enough it's on its fifth race, which means next week he gets a new one for Brazil.

Must have been. Only complete airframe I know of its in the Air and Space museum.

The only thing I have heard on that was an old rumor he would leave Mercedes and go to Williams back when they were denying he would be leaving Mercedes. So half of that "crazy" rumor has come true so far.

Nothing since his announced departure though. And unless Williams got a massive infusion of cash or they're promising Brawn huge stakes/personal control, that doesn't sound likely.
