A drop kick?

Nope, not actually a legal kick. If he had spun the ball with his hands, it might actually be allowed as a drop kick though.

Probably not. As I understand the rule, it can only bounce once before you kick it to be a legal drop kick. Otherwise it would be considered a fumble followed by an illegal kick.

How come when they talk about NFL records that will probably never be broken, they never bring up the records for drop kicks?  The current record for drop kick field goals in a game of 4 is held by two players.

Since that kid is playing by high school rules, and that's the rule book I have handy --

A drop kick is only defined as a ball that is dropped and kicked when it "touches the ground or is rising from the ground". There is nothing in the definition about it only bouncing once. It would be a legal kick if it was done in any scenario where a drop kick would be legal.

The biggest issue with the play is that it would take long enough to set up that it would probably not be successful.

And frankly, wouldn't have been that hard to kick it while it was just lying on the ground.

Simply ball trick coupled with an already skilled kicker equals meh.

I've never seen anyone do it before, so I won't shiat in what the kid did.

Whoa. I thought that was pretty impressive and I'm not even a football fan.

He didn't kick a field goal, he made a practice kick.
