Seems like for the last week or so it has been windier than normal. Is this thread going to turn into a Global Warming Flame War?

That's where I live. Is some people gonna die here or something?

I hope not.  That'd just make the situation worse.

50+ mph wind gusts expected in SW Ohio.  May interfere with the Bengals-Browns game.  I need to tie down my patio furniture.

So are we saying more than usual or same as usual?

According to everyone one of those maps; fark Indiana?

Good.  I live here and need some excitement.  We all do.  Bring it on.

2013-11-17 09:22:34 AM
Indy appears under the gun based upon that map but the local news is only talking about possible thunderstorms and crazy wind.  They usually would overhype any forecast that includes a possibility of a tornado.  Here's hoping for no tornados!

2013-11-17 09:23:02 AM
Terrific.  The "moderate" risk area has been drooped down to include my neck of the woods.  When I went to bed we were only in the "slight" risk area.

Shouldn't have went to bed?

FARKING GLOBAL WINDING

From the maps, apparently Canada is immune.

We should take whatever they're taking.

Living in Ohio, I have a question for tgr wonderful folks running the NWS. If you expect conditions are right for Tornados and are calling for a significant outbreak of them, then where is the FARKING TORNADO WATCH!? jeebus people, it's your job.

/only trust weather.gov for my weather forecasts.

Hamilton County.  We had sun from 8:30 till 9:15.  Now it's back to overcast with 25mph winds.

I'll remember that when wherever you live is facing natural disaster.

Meh, what are the odds?

/been through tornadoes before
//one tore the roof off the mother sucker
///lots of damage....no one hurt where I was - unfortunately can't say the same thing for its whole path.
//I'm going to go to sleep and I won't be in the basement.  If Mother Nature wants to whisk me off to Oz, so be it.

The High risk area has expanded, includes parts of Ohio & MIchigan too now. Tornado watch coming out soon along a St Louis - Chicago line.

Omaha got hail this morning around 4. In mid-November. That's weird.

2013-11-17 09:32:24 AM
My barometer is reading 28.78 right now... lowest I've seen it in a while, and just reaching the area labeled "Stormy."

It's farking November. Tornado season should have been over by now.

What does 30% chance of tornado mean? 30% at each point within the region? 30% chance somewhere within the region? Probably not either of those.

2013-11-17 09:33:32 AM
I'm in central Ontario and we're under a wind warning for gusts up to @100 Km/h, supposed to really start up this afternoon. It's black as hell outside even now.

No bad weather here, but it's going to be in the 80s today.

There's a 30% chance based on likewise conditions in your area. It's a prediction based on a statistical model.

I live in the middle of the pink zone. I plan on snuggling up with a bag of glass under the powerlines and watching this bad boy roll through.

2013-11-17 09:38:06 AM
The key is apparently what happens after the current line moves through.  If it stays cloudy till this afternoon, then no problem.  If it doesn't, and we get some daytime heating from the sun before the front moves through, then KABLOOEY!!!

So, I'll be yelling at clouds to stick around after this morning's rain moves off,

/KABLOOEY!

I would think most tornadoes would be considered "significant," but just in case...

Tornado watch is out now. Something is verry unsettling about one being issued while McDonald's is still serving breakfast.

Hamilton Co. also-right by the river in South Fairmount.  You remember the tornado that hit Blue Ash this time of the year about 15 years ago?

Snarfangel: Several lawn chairs almost blown over

Not here!  Last night I took all the patio stuff and laid it over, stacked it up, etc. so nothing is "loose" out back.  That wind is straight from the South, and the back of the house faces West, so that wind is blazing across the deck.  We have a wind advisory from 10a to 11p or such.

Selfishly I hope its not so bad I have to go to work-this is the first weekend I've had totally off in ages.
