I for one will sleep much better tonight knowing there won't be raving bands of lunatic teens high on reefer roaming the streets of my neighborhood.

untaken_name: AgentPothead: I just wanted to point out that most cactus don't have leaves, unless you count the spines which evolved from leaves. They are called cactus pads.

I just wanted to point out that I posted a photograph of cactus leaves upthread.

Know how I know that the only thing you know about cactus is what you typed into google image search?
Most species of cacti have lost true leaves, retaining only spines, which are highly modified leaves.
The absence of visible leaves is one of the most striking features of most cacti. Pereskia (which is close to the ancestral species from which all cacti evolved) does have long-lasting leaves, which are, however, thickened and succulent in many species.

You posted a picture of a cactus pad. Not a leaf.

gfid: SurfaceTension: $4.5M in regular math and $250,650 in cop math.

Bricked marijuana is not usually the same grade of marijuana as your friend is buying.
Many times, too, when marijuana is being tallied as a dollar amount, the dollar value at different points of sale is calculated as the whole.  It doesn't seem to be the case, here.  Here they are giving a dollar value of $28 per Mexican brick ounce.  Often, $50 or greater is the mark.  So this is really, really cheep weed.

Yeah, if you're dealing in lots of over 500 pounds and it's brickweed, you're probably talking less than $500 per pound.

Don't ask me how I know this, I just do.  It's not like they're already broken up into quarter ounce bags or even ounces.

What's surprising is the cops didn't do cop math where they figured out how many one gram joints you could roll out of that and assumed each one of those joints would sell for $5.

/too lazy to do the math on that right now.
//Oh what the hell?, let's do it.

557 pounds * 16 ounces per pound = 8912 ounces
8912 oz  * 28 g/ per oz = 249536 grams

Okay, so each 1 gram joint is only $1 (not too bad if you're buying one joint at a time)

Maybe the cops came up with $250,650 because they were charging for the rolling papers.  Or maybe the cops were honest enough to realize that there's actually MORE than 28 grams per an ounce.  It's not much more, but if you're got 8,912 ounces, that extra fraction of a gram per an ounce could add up.

///Fun fact:  If you could roll a joint a minute, it would take you 173 days of constant rolling to roll all of those joints.

I knew a dealer in the 80s, old black guy called Midnight.  He sold nickel bags for 5 bucks in little tiny manila envelopes.  If you wanted a quarter he would hand you five envelopes.

Those were the good old days when you could drive through a shady hood and hold two dollars up and get a decent joint to top off the nights drinking.  I was lucky, my best friend had a phototron.

433: Dinki: glad to see the cops are hard at work protecting us from the evil weed. Do you think any of them will ever look back and say to themselves "gee we really did waste a lot of our lives"?

Probably not.

That level of introspection requires far more self awareness than any cop can manifest unless he finds himself under review by Internal Affairs without benefit of union protection.

Speaking as a pothead, thanks for removing 28$ an ounce weed from the streets. People are better off not smoking than smoking brick weed.

Yeah, I'd take an eighth of my regular stuff vs a pound of mexican ditch weed.  They are probably equivalent THC content.

557pounds x 16ounces x $500thatmyuhuhfriendpaysforanounce = $4.5M in regular math and $250,650 in cop math.

$250,650/(557x16) = $28/oz

I want some of that $28/oz pot, that's for sure.
