Being laid off from a ketchup factory isn't so bad.
It's the anticipation that's really tough.

I didn't know this, from Wiki: "On February 14, 2013, Heinz agreed to be purchased by Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital for $23 Billion."

Does the Heinz family have ANY role, at all, in the company?

Invincible: Heinz hired the former CEO of burger king. MacDonalds dropped Heinz. Globally. Cause meet effect.

Yeah, the loss of Mickey-Dees is really killing Heinz. From a quick google...

"McDonald's won't give out numbers for the amount of ketchup it consumes globally, but in 2006, it reportedly used 250 million pounds of the stuff in the U.S., only a small fraction of which came from Heinz [Minneapolis and Pittsburgh]. For a rough comparison, today Heinz says it sells 650 million bottles per year worldwide, which works out to 569 million pounds - not including bulk sales to fast-food restaurants."

The ketchup will run red in the streets.

It's because the nearby states have unions and they're stealing all the bootstraps - better abolish some more unions to be on the safe side.

Heinz lays off 1300 workers. Now, to meet year-end goals remaining employees will have to spend the rest of year playing ketchup pouring one half-empty ketchup bottle into another half-empty ketchup bottle.

(if you've ever worked in restaurants, you know about that.)
