Clearly, Glamour magazine has an anti-gun agenda. I mean, just look at their other nominees: Melinda Gates, Catherine Martin, Natalie Massenet, Kerry Washington, Lady Gaga, Liya Kebede and Christy Turlington Burns, and Barbra Streisand. None of them -- NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM -- is armed in any of their publicity photos!

Fark you, NRA.  I dropped your ass of an organization 8 years ago.

Not to mention there's not a single man nominated for Woman of the Year! For a political agenda that promotes diversity they sure don't seem to mind when its the men they're treating unfairly!

well, they are right. whats so wrong with noting they would have all been safer if they had been armed? if you are going to get recognition for favoring banning guns it seems reasonable you shouldn't get too upset when folks note your access to guns being restricted in the first place really screwed you.

Yes, definitely. The people working to prevent gun violence are FAR MORE embarrassing than the people who enjoy shooting caged animals.

Yeah, Brady who was shot instead of Reagan.

Conservatives love anything snd everything associated with Reagan, except Brady.

The answer is always C.

From a psychological point of view, I find it fascinating that the NRA and associated gunnuts would view these people as heroic if they were holding a gun but not otherwise.

Paging Dr. Freud.

2013-11-15 03:15:47 PM
Yes, we really should just tell all those victims of shootings to fark off! They're just getting in the way of honest decent gun owners' rights to fire projectiles indiscriminately in public. How dare they!

I don't even know why this is a story.

Oh yes, if Malala Yousafzai (a 12 year old girl on a school bus mind you) had been armed, I'm sure she would have been able to overtake a bunch of Taliban assassins coming to take her down.

They don't, it is just something they can use to further their agenda.  No one actually believes that more guns makes people safer, it's just something they can use against their enemy.

dletter: Oh yes, if Malala Yousafzai (a 12 year old girl on a school bus mind you) had been armed, I'm sure she would have been able to overtake a bunch of Taliban assassins coming to take her down.

Except that it was a single armed man:

A 15-year-old girl who was wounded alongside Ms. Yousafzai described how easily the Taliban had been able to attack the school bus. "A young man in his early 20s approached the bus and asked for Malala," the girl, Kainat Riaz, said in an interview at her family's home in Swat. "Then he started firing."

Had the driver been armed, or had there been an armed guard on the bus?  She may not have been shot.  Then again, maybe she would have.  Who knows?  But I find it hard to believe it would have been significantly worse.

Gun != guarantee.

Except that they are not claiming the driver should have been armed:

"These are women who should have the choice to be armed," said NRA guest Laura Carno.

So, she is suggesting that 12 year old's on school buses should all have firearms.

Bush Sr. recognizes the asshattery of the NRA? Huh. Guess the old guard wasn't completely wrong about every single issue, unlike the modern GOP.

I'm a liberal who supports gun rights. Got guns in my house... and the NRA can fark off and die.

Given that they sympathize on average with the views of the Taliban I can imagine they would have a problem with Malala.

Then maybe they should support measures that actually go after gun violence, instead of getting all huffy puffy over silly ideas like "assault weapon" bans and magazine limitations.
