Does this do anything but increase rear-end accidents for a 1/4 mile and then people resume normal 10 over speeds?

Speak of the Devil. I just mentioned cardboard officers a little while ago in the thread on robotic deer being shot by hunters.

They work. A lot of cardboard cops fool dumb motorists and rootic deer (even cardboard deer) fool a lot of moronic hunters.

This just goes to prove that the average motorist is nearly as dim as bicyclists think they are while most US hunters are drunk out of their tiny simian minds.

Bicyclists are about as smart as trained circus bears themselves, and have an even worse attitude, so maybe the cardboard cops would help keep those SOBs under control as well.

As a pedestrian I am willing to admit that we walkers have our faults. For one thing, almost everybody walks except the aristocracy of grotesquely obese chumps, who are better than the rest of us because they are allowed to have wheels indoors.

Cyclists are almost as smug as Cartman after he got his Rascooooul. But four wheels is better than two wheels.

Motorists generally ride on four wheels. Generally. We see them riding and we be hating because the sidewalks belong to us, dammit, as do the farmer's markets and restaurants and bedrooms of the nations.

The more wheels a human has, the bigger douchebag they are.

At least that is how it looks from where I'm standing, which is behind a lamp post, just to be on the safe side.

But I have motorists to the left of me and cyclists and the obese to the right of me, and I'm stuck in the middle.

WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?

It works well. Remind people that someone could be watching and most will follow the rules.

Many places park end-of-life cars near highways to get people to slow down. You don't know they're empty until you're right on them.

Yeah, but have you ever met a cool unicycler, one wheel, bags of douche...

Funny thing is... when you're going the limit, and someone going over the limit passes you, then sees a cop, which leads to them hitting their brakes HARD, and end up under the speed, causing a very nice cascading effect that you then need to brake also so not to rear-end the idiot.

This sort of scenario lead to my almost demise on my motorcycle, and I ended up having to do a very difficult swerve, which the cop used to accuse me of speeding and I ended with a ticket that I wasn't able to beat with the truth....(which was I didn't speed, just maneuvered very very fast to avoid the idiot that was speeding and hit his brakes HARD right in front of me, and the terrible road condition (really bad potholes) that I had to avoid.)

I like it. Cardboard cops are far less obnoxious, and don't have a quota of tickets to write.

is that a smashed car, an ambulance or a hearse?

I belw by one of these stupid carboard cops on the freeway just yesterday. I never even slowed down. Boy was I suprised when that piece of cardboad set down the radar gun, got in it's car and pulled onto the freeway behind me. Lucky for me he wanted the car in front of me.

If we replace ALL THE COPS with cutouts, I suspect crime will decrease. To zero.

/who's counting, anyway?
//bah, no more cop beatdown/abuse of power vids

In Pennington, NJ, they put an actual full cop car with a dummy in it on the side of the road.  And you bet your ass it works.  Because no one wants to be the guy who speeds past it thinking it's just a decoy and finding out they were wrong.

My mother told me how when she worked for a police office in SC, they got a complaint from a lady on the officer they had working radar near an interstate. Seems she needed to ask him something and he rudely wouldn't roll down the window no matter how many times she knocked or called for him.
You guessed it, was a dummy in the car.
/outside the car too

I hope the 'shop the herpes sore off his lip for the cardboard cutout.

This is stupid, cardboard cutouts can't raise revenue for the city. Nor can they taze you for resisting your beat down.

One dimensional cops would be everywhere all the time.

Nearby town has one of these cardboard cop cars permanently placed on a well-travelled 2 lane highway. If you travel this road a lot, you know it's fake. Every couple of months or so, they move the cutout and put a real speed trap there. Big revenue day.
