History shows again and again how Maher points out the folly of man.

Oh sure, that one is easy.  Try working him into "then came the last days of may".

Is it me, or is Bill Mahr the most punchable person alive?

Well, mostly his own folly.

No, I'd rather punch Hannity or Palin.  Many times.

2013-11-15 09:08:24 AM
Congratulations, Boston. You are now officially New York City,

2013-11-15 09:08:55 AM
I guess he'd be happier if they were wiped out by whooping cough.

2013-11-15 09:09:39 AM
To be fair, they didn't shut up about it during the World Series. If you need a sports victory to get over a terrorist attack, I don't know what to tell you.

That said, Maher is an anti-vaxxer and germ theory denialist, and then goes ahead and calls people who believe in a god stupid.

Fahckin Bill Mowa?

I hadn't realized that part of "BOSTON STRONG" was being so vigilant about finding new things to complain and be outraged about. Well done, fellow citizens.

Bill Maher is still alive?

The loss of those towers touched the world.  No matter where you stood in America, you could see the twins.  A comforting reassurance that the heart of the nation was still beating, filling our military, economy, and bellies with tasty marrow.  The Boston bombing only kill a hand full of people, easily replaced by loosening immigration for an hour.

To a great extent. But on this occasion, he's just saying what we're all thinking.

Its not just you.

/Bill Maher treats Boston the same way he treats women, & non-minority men? Shocking.

Unfortunately, yes.

Maher is a little half-assed self-righteous demi-pundit.
I would love to see him get a kick square in his balls, assuming he still has them and didn't sell them for ratings.

Well he's probably in at least the top 20. Seriously, I can't think of anyone else I've found myself both frequently agreeing and disagreeing with like him. But I also haven't paid attention to him in a good while, so maybe he's a complete douchetard all the time now.

2013-11-15 09:17:24 AM
While I think most of the 9/11 to now tragedies have become a for-profit industry (as well as breast cancer) I would love to see Bill Maher raped with the pointy side of a pineapple. He's the WBC of talk show hosts.

He doesn't believe in things the way I think he should. What an ass!

2013-11-15 09:18:22 AM
I'm sorry, but I should pay attention to anything Bill Maher says....why exactly? Other than his inate ability to piss people off and his ever expanding liberal gone whackjob view of life, what exactly is there about him that merits attention? Oh, yeah. His inate ability to piss people off and his ever expanding liberal gone whackjob view of life. Got it.

Well, if you are atheist, usually you are pro-science. And well, anyone who doesn't believe germs make you sick and that vaccines are evil is pretty damn anti-science. I agree with him 100% on religion, but how he can be so "anyone who believes in a god is an idiot" and still think vaccines cause autism and that germs don't make you sick is beyond me.

And all anti-vaxxers are dipshiats. As are germ theory denialists. They are on par with flat earthers.

Well, while he's technically correct (the best kind of correct,) he is also wicked inappropriate. This was a sports victory parade, not a city milking a tragedy for 10+ years while politicians and union bosses figured out how to squeeze the most votes and power out of an event.

I'm looking at you, New York City.

There must have been something appealing about him.  He was banging Cara Santa Maria for three years.

It was again, a bad day, three people died, that's terrible. More were maimed, that's horrible, but unfortunately that happens every day, in car accidents and everything else. I mean, your city was not leveled by Godzilla."

Maher is generally too douchey for me to listen to, but I don't have a problem with this comment.

Being wrong about some things does not mean you are wrong about all things.  I don't know a whole lot about medicine but I do know a lot about math if I told you that I think vaccines cause autism would you doubt my ability to do calculus?

http://blogs.findlaw.com/injured/2013/10/boston-bombing-victims-seek- m ore-from-charity.html

People die every day in accidents and through violence. In 2010 alone over 2.2 million were injured in car wrecks with 33,000 fatalities.  I'm sure quite a few of them just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Seriously? You expect me to give more of a shiat about three people than thirty thousand?  Enough that we devote (many) charities to help three people and a few injured?  Mountain meet molehill.

/BUT BUT it's TEH TERRERISTS!

Dude, if you think people shouldn't believe in vaccines and germ theory you're part of the problem.

2013-11-15 09:28:12 AM
He continues to be a complete a$$hole, no matter if he is right or wrong on a topic. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt to say that maybe he communicates poorly and just needs to no longer do so in front of the public.

2013-11-15 09:29:15 AM
Aw man... I didn't know about his stance on vaccines and germ theory. That sucks. Otherwise, I agree with him.

But hey, seems like the general population loves a good drama and the emotional outpouring that stems from it, so actions following the bombing do not surprise me in the slightest.

2013-11-15 09:29:48 AM
Oh, and Maher is on the board of directors of PETA.

But yeah, I agree with his comments here. He is right.

I wasn't saying that he was wrong on everything. I agree with him on religion and I agree with his statement about the Boston bombing, but I am just saying he is a dumbfark for being a germ-theory denialist and anti-vaxxer.

machoprogrammer: Well, if you are atheist, usually you are pro-science.

Wrong.  Atheists don't believe in god.  That's it.  There are no other aspects to atheism. The correlation with science and atheism is a product of religious indoctrination that is often broken by science but in an increasingly secular society more and more children will grow up as atheists and have no more science literacy than any other segment of society.

Generally speaking, I like Bill Mahar.  He does say some very funny and insightful things.  But nobody's perfect.  And he does sometimes push the envelope to the point where even his biggest fans say, "Dude...  You crossed the line."

I'll cite as an example of his referring to the 9/11 hijackers as "brave", because it takes balls of steel to crash a plane into a building.  I'll leave out the most obvious point of why that is wrong, only to point out why I dissagree.  Those dudes really, REALLY did think that they were heading toward a great reward in heaven.  It may seem absurd to us, but they were not being brave at all.  They were being ultimately selfish.

Boston is turning the terror attacks into a uniting force that they almost take pride in, completely and utterly defeating the bomber brothers assholery intention. Terror attacks are supposed to instill wide fear and oppressive overreaction. Instead Boston is making the marathon attacks a point of civic pride. Perfect.

Image if after 9/11 all we changed about airport security was replace the stupid 'has anybody given you something to carry?' checkin question with 'Do you agree to restrain, beat, maim, and if necessary kill anyone who attempts to hijack your flight?' No security theater, no profiling bullshiat - OK keep the lockable cockpit doors. But that would have been the same simple, appropriate, middle finger response to terrorism that Boston's unrestrained embrace of the marathon bombings is.

Maher is so busy wanking against a tree here that he's missing the forest around him.

IMO he was always wrong about that. It's easier to hate the world and to ram a plane into a building out of spite than to face things a better way. I think we had it right thinking it's an act of cowardice.

The problem is not Boston not "getting over it." The problem is the Red Sox shameless use of tragedy for self-promotion. Of course, they're not the only ones.

Celtics tried to use "Boston Strong" right after the bombing to drive their run in the NBA playoffs but it did not help.

Punchable, yes.  Most punchable - not even close.

I understand the point of view of everyone on the "Boston Strong" thing.  It is getting annoying and isn't that big of a deal, but it was literally an ATTACK ON A SPORTING EVENT.  It MAKES SENSE that the Boston sports teams (which have near religious followings in all sports in the city) would take up the helm in responding to the attack.  This is an appropriate response to stimuli.  Since they took this up as a rallying cry at the beginning of the red sox season, they are bound to mention it win they win the freaking series.  And as long as Boston teams are successful, they will keep crying "Boston strong" everywhere.

It's going to come back up next baseball season garuanteed.  It won't stick with the bruins since they aren't having a great season.  The Celtics would have to win the championchip for it to stick (no clue the odds on that one) and the Patriots never adopted it because they insist on not being "Boston" but "New England" to widen the fan base.
