Gotta admit, though ... the 1 in 100 times I for some reason use Bing, I kind of like it.

2013-11-15 10:22:03 AM
The biggest story here is "AOL controlled 1.3%"  That's 250,900,000 searches on AOL.

I use google, and wouldn't use Bing if I had to be hit in the balls for every Google search that didn't get me what I wanted.

*However*, I was looking for some pretty obscure documentation on a switch that most of you probably haven't heard of the other day, and while both returned results, the Bing search gave me the article I was looking for... In Japanese.

So of course I took the link and used Google Translate to read it.

"for some reason." Yeah, I'd heard that Bing does better internet porn searches.

/"1 in 100 times." Yeah, right.

Not even close, subby. We all know that the vast majority of those searches were for porn and not healthcare. Masturbating is the only exercise most Americans get in a day.

REALLY?  I'd expect just as many asking "How the f*ck do I separate google+ and my damned youtube account?"

Actually in recent years Google has gotten bad about not returning relevant results. If you're searching for something that normal people don't search for it can be a huge pain in the ass. It often seems to ignore terms you put and and return results that don't even match what you typed. So then you try to quote them and it does better but sometimes still returns things that don't specifically match match what you typed in.

2013-11-15 10:37:25 AM
Yeah, Bing may be better as a porn search engine, but Google's search is becoming less effective. Seems like the results on Bing is better than Google at times.

I use Bing just for the free RedBox rentals...

Because objecting to shoehorning politics into completely unrelated topics makes one a "Barry fluffer".

It would be more convenient if they put some of the advanced search settings on the home page, I hate when searching for tech information many of the top hits will be from like 2005 or so.

2013-11-15 10:50:05 AM
Here I thought the search was going to be How do I get exempt from Obamacare.Or Why is the lying sack Obama still in office.

Just dropped Google (except for GIS, occasionally) in favor of DuckDuckGo.

Wiped my search history, dropped Google products... I'm done with them for the most part. I'll use them when I have to, but no longer by choice.

2013-11-15 11:26:05 AM
That seems really low. That's only about 2 searches/day/person. The company I work for handles about 7 million searches a day for work that needs to be done in one industry, giving us a search volume of about 1% the size of Google.

DubtodaIll: The biggest story here is "AOL controlled 1.3%"  That's 250,900,000 searches on AOL.

On the other hand, I'm not surprised that we have about as many searches as AOL, since our system actually does something.

If you turn off "safe search" you still get boobies in Bing. Google just filters most nudity now, no matter what your setting.

/or so I've heard, I never do searches like that myself, of course

Seriously?  When clicking on the 'Geek' tab and the first two headlines make you honestly think you accidentally clicked on 'Politics' that's now all it takes to be a worshiper of Fartbongobananarama?  Is someone going to tell me the secret handshake now that I'm in the club?  Do we have meetings I'm required to attend?

Most leftist want to politicize all things.  My wife noticed this while watching Andrew Zimmer's Bazaar Foods.  He was in San Fran and every place he ate had some sort of underling politics.
Everything from what and how they eat to what type of car they drive, it's all politics all the time.  It doesn't matter if a Hummer is 100% recyclable and generates less toxic waste, it is politically evil and thus they all want to drive a Prius.
I personally think this is why they are OK with the idea of the federal government being in control of every aspect of their lives from what kind of foods they eat to how much life saving health care they get.

I was out and wanted to find out the score of the warriors game. I have Bing on my company phone. Searching " Warriors OKC Score"

Top four results:

1) Bleacher Report from that day (no score)
2) score of a game last april
3) score of a game last January
4) Something not the score of the game in progress

WT Bing?

I ended up using Mrs. Devo's  iphone and found it first result.
