Rob Ford:
"Olivia Gondek says I wanted to eat her pussy. I've never said that in my life to her, I would never do that. I'm happily married - I've got more than enough to eat at home."

Thank you Toronto, for this gift that just keeps giving.

I'm actually a robot operated by a little person. A few weeks ago, the little person suffered a head injury and went nuts. He did all this. We've since replaced that little person with another, better little person and everything will be better, eh?

And the new little person is wearing a hockey helmet, eh?

This is old news. Since he made this statement we've had the release of court records, the admission of drunk driving, the threat of legal action against people who made statements about him to police, the announcement of his and his brother's new show on SunNews (aka FoxNews North) the denial of allegations of sexual harassment, the subsequent apology presser for the language he used in said denial, and his driver/security guard punching a cameraman while leaving that presser.

It's a little hard to keep up with, I know.

Good God what is there left for that man to be embarrassed about?

On a side note, I listen to a lot of Canadian conservative talk radio (because the Wharrbl is funny) and I cant believe the amount of people phoning in saying that they would still vote for him.

Partisan politics; I don't care how much of a F*ck up my party member is, its still better then the other guy.

Toronto must be an exceedingly boring city if the mayor can spend so much time partying and so little time actually doing, I dunno, WORK...

What I find really surprising is that the council is urging him to step down.  He won't.  So they are voting to take away most of his powers as mayor (as if he really needs them anyway).  Why, exactly, can they not simply FIRE HIM?  Many things he has done are illegal.  It's not like there is some needed burden off proof, since he's caught on video, and fessed up to it.  So what the hell is the hangup here?!

//It's entertaining, if nothing else.

They can't just fire him because he's an elected official. And unfortunately there's currently no recall mechanism in place (and he'd probably survive a recall election anyway). He can be removed if he's convicted of a crime, but so far he hasn't even been charged.

We may find out today what, if anything, the Province can/is willing to do to step in.

I have heard that the second video the police have is a sex video taken the same night as the drunken stupor crack video. The rumoured contents are not feline related in any way however, and are, quite frankly, far less interesting.

I really don't want to see this video. It can stay in police custody for public safety.

There is  no legal way to fire a mayor, unfortunately. The provincial legislation would have to be changed to do that. So, right now, the premier is saying that she might consider special legislation if City Council asks for it, and with the consent of all parties at Queens Park. The provincial Liberals have a minority government and do need consent from other parties to bring any legislation.

On the plus side, this is a weak mayoral system, and basically the city council can just ignore him because he is only one vote among many.

Toronto is being infected by the Whargarble because his support comes from the poorer inner-ring burbs. They used to be their own towns but became amalgamated back in the 90's.

However, while the inner-core of Toronto has experienced a revival the burbs are suffering because of a lack of public transportation and infrastructure investment. It's why his "SUBWAYS!!!" pitch was so alluring. I know way too many people who live in the burbs who have to drive 2 hour commutes because there's no easy public option (half the time it's the same or more time!)

While I think metrocity should have been revised it shouldn't have been scrapped.

Other items in case our American friends missed them:

-He and his brother are getting their own talk show on Canada's version of Fox news.
-Organizers of the Toronto Santa Claus parade are asking ford not to march in parade as he has in the past.
-Toronto's Canadian Football League team has asked him not to wear their jersey as they head to the playoffs.
-His bodyguard punched a camera man after apology press conference.
-The city council members turn their chairs away from him whenever he speaks in council.
-School trips to City Hall have been cancelled as it has been deemed 'unsafe for children'.
-Everyday Toronto news stations lead with the Rob Ford Late night jokes from the night before and all international headlines.

Okay, here's my big beef with this whole thing. WHY HASN'T HE BEEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME! If the police got a video of me smoking a joint my non-connected ass would have been arrested.

He has been caught: smoking crack, buying drugs, DRINKING AND DRIVING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, affiliation with crack dealers (even paying the utilities on a crack house!), and paying bribes while his kid was in the car!

The funny thing about that photo, is that he was told by the parade organizers not to throw candy as they would be liable if someone got injured (like a kid running into the street to grab one).

Ford's response was "it's not like I was throwing overhand".

Definitely, while I do live in an inner-ring burb my neighborhood is doing okay because it's right next to the Yorkdale mall (and subway stop)

IMHO the Shepard line should be taken across the city and connected to Pearson Airport. The fact that we don't have train/subway access to our major airport is nuts.

I do think Toronto should just bite the bullet and make subways, the LRT would have at least been better than a subway stub in Scarberia (please stop whoring your votes out for stubs...)
