ironic that this is from an Australian news site.  Aussie bacon is kind of a cross between US and Canadian.  It's a full bacon slice like American, but isn't smoked the same way.

Start with the bacon weave then make a mold for your shell out of aluminum foil, drape the weave over it, and bake it in the oven (over a rack to catch the grease) until it is crispy enough to hold its shape.

No --- don't pretend that you've always thought bacon was super awesome.  You didn't.  No one did.  Then, the meme started (2008, 2009?) and then everyone acted like they always thought bacon was the greatest thing ever.

You are wrong. I was involved with an annual bacon-themed camp before 2008. So I was saturated with bacon-lore, and then bored by it before it became "a thing." Unfortunately this makes me a bacon hipster which is almost as pathetic as being aboard the bacon trendiness wagon (which is still measurably less pathetic than the won't-it-just-die-already zombie trendiness wagon).

That said, most of this is crap. Including, Subby, the bacon taco. You know it's true; it's why you've never done it.

Bacon is to be savored one delicious slice at a time. Alone. Wrapped around cheese, or some other hors d'ouvres. In tiny bits sprinkled over something. On a quality burger.

But never, never in mass, woven, piled, overkill forms. Bacon tacos? You lose all the savor. Might as well make sixty slices, compress them, and shove the whole thing in your mouth. I'd rather spend 45 minutes eating them slice by marvelous slice.

Followed by 45 minutes in the 'can. So. Worth. It.

I've had the Bacon Bomb - it's a holy experience.  It's even better than it sounds.  My mom made it for her 50th anniversary party and it disappeared in less than 10 minutes.  There were only about 20 people there (and 2 vegans who nearly crapped their pants and left early).

A great new idea that tastes great is grenadine glazed bacon.

Get a quart of pure pomegranate juice, Knudsen or POM, cook it down to half its volume, then add a jar of red currant jam.  Cook for a few minutes, then strain, mashing any currants to get all the flavor out.  Bottle it with a little vodka for preservative.  When you cook bacon, when it reaches the soft-done stage, paint it with the grenadine and broil it a bit.  It is the bacon of the gods.  Cook up a few pounds of thick cut, because every bit will be gobbled up.
