Having dogged the shiat out of more than a few rentals in my lifetime, I'm inclined to say HELL NOES to this...

2013-11-15 01:54:21 AM
No

2013-11-15 02:03:42 AM
The way I treat rental cars? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

No.

2013-11-15 02:04:47 AM
Nope.

2013-11-15 02:16:15 AM
I don't treat rental cars badly, but I'd just feel uncomfortable with another person driving mine around.  Especially if it crashes, even if the insurance kicks in, now it's on me to find another car, etc.  But I wouldn't let someone stay unsupervised in my home, either.

2013-11-15 05:17:32 AM
No. My car is an extension of my home. A piece of the world that belongs only to me.

2013-11-15 07:42:22 AM
No.

2013-11-15 09:20:54 AM
Add me to the "no f'n way" list

2013-11-15 09:21:05 AM
Now?  Yes.  It's twelve years old and I'm looking at a new one.

Otherwise no.

2013-11-15 09:21:43 AM
my car and I aren't down with that poly shiat

2013-11-15 09:21:51 AM
Difficulty  - I drive a stick.

2013-11-15 09:31:36 AM
not to mention if something breaks I wouldn't trust them to handle it. i wonder how their insurance handles something non collision related, like say the radiator blows and the renter is like 'pfft, fark it I got somewhere to be' and blows out the engine? is this place going to handle that or am I going to get a call that my cars on the side of the highway accross the country and I need to have it towed?

2013-11-15 09:32:53 AM
I could also see a huge headache with parking and speeding tickets. Ive been thinking about this for about 4 minutes and can think of about 10 ideas why this is an awful idea.

No. Is this even legal?

vernonFL: No. Is this even legal?

Why wouldn't it be?  The insurance companies might have an issue with it, but that wouldn't make it illegal.

Nobody, I MEAN NOBODY drives the Challenger, but me.

2013-11-15 10:18:20 AM
No.

2013-11-15 10:35:48 AM
No

Probably the same guys that would use "free" bikes think this is a great idea, though.

2013-11-15 10:50:42 AM
I make it a point to treat rental cars very badly.  So no.

2013-11-15 10:58:06 AM
no, but I dont own a car so it doesnt matter

2013-11-15 11:09:24 AM
I wouldn't allow anyone to use my car unsupervised. I'm concerned about them smashing it, spilling stuff in it, selling/smoking/buying drugs in it, or it being used as a porn shoot.

I'm kind of a clean freak too

2013-11-15 11:10:55 AM
The answer to this, as always, is f*cking lawyers.Ambulance chasing highway robbing c*cksuckers. F*cking insurance companies, too
Take a big wet bite out of your ass.  Then at the end of the year, if you figured the tax wrong, they make you pay out of your own pocket.
Uncle Sam puts his hand in your shirt and squeezes your tit till it's purple. Always get the short end. That's a fact.
/had to, noticed the Fark lawyer brigade is out and about today

I like saving money, but I'm not insane.

OK.  Full disclosure.  I am insane, but I still wouldn't do it.

I couldn't figure out why three years after quitting smoking (and a few car washes), my car still smelled like crap. Turns out one of the monsters has been taking the liberty of smoking every five-minute run to the convenience store.

/ I am now owed a car wash from this kid. (And about a billion dollars.)

2013-11-15 11:44:27 AM
Hell no!  I don't trust the unwashed masses to even look at my car, let alone rent it.  Plus its not like they could afford to rent it, as it would be cheaper to buy a car to use for a few days over renting mine.  Plus I might kill them for so much as scratching it.

2013-11-15 12:06:35 PM
This might be a better option than selling my old car, especially if I can put off all the maintenance it needs. After about. 10 days of rental I'm going to make more than Carmax is offering for it.

Whatever you get offered from carmax, add $500 to it and try to sell it on the side of the road. You'll get a better deal and help someone that afford to buy a marked up car from a dealer. The $500 bump-up is the price that you can lower the car before losing money.

As someone who only buys second hand, it's a great system and everyone makes out, but carmax.

Diogenes: I drive a stick.

Yeah ya do...

2013-11-15 12:42:41 PM
Yes. But who would be desperate enough to want to rent my POS?

2013-11-15 12:44:10 PM

Diogenes: Difficulty  - I drive a stick.

Yeah.  Everybody (like me) who always wanted to learn stick and whose friends refused to let them learn on their cars would be on it before you got through check-in.

2013-11-15 01:14:53 PM
Nope.

Nope.

Oldie but goodie:  "Did you know all rental cars are 4-wheel drive?"

The car is an extension of my personal space, so no.
