(My Fox NY)   If you own a Civil War cannon and enjoy firing it at your neighbors, then you probably don't want to move to Kiantone, New York. Seems the people there are a little uptight and such activity is frowned upon   ( divider line

"Police confiscated the cannon. " They came for the cannon first, but I did nothing, because I didn't have a cannon......

This guy
who was also a San Francisco lawyer as well as appearing in an acting role on the original Star Trek, would celebrate winning court cases by firing his cannon off from the balcony of his San Francisco law office. Yes, a cannon. In the middle of downtown San Francisco.

In more weird-Trek-connection, William Shatner's role as "Denny Crane" in Boston Legal was modeled after Belli's real-life persona.

tinfoil-hat maggie: WelldeadLink: Gyrfalcon: Old_Chief_Scott: I wonder if it would be OK to fire a trebuchet.

Is that the correct nomenclature? "Launch" a trebuchet?

OK to fire a trebuchet.

So pretty. One of my greatest disappointments as a child was learning I was to weak to build a catapult or trebuchet by myself.
/So sad : (

That's the whole point. If you're going to have a trebuchet, you  need a horde.

And for a mangonel, you need a legion. Those huge arrows are hard to maneuver.

I've seen this one fired a few times in New Ulm, MN. They tell you to stand back because it's really, really loud.
They Lied. It's really, really, really f-ing loud. Stand way, way back.
Hot like an old cannon that's just been fired.

Yeah, we handle conflict a little differently in these parts.

I've known his daughter for years. I'm assuming there's much more to the story, but she's not really excited to discuss it.

For a number of years I ran a local charity road race where they brought in civil war re-enactors to fire a replica cannon as the starting gun. It set off every car alarm within a half mile radius.
