He's just wrong on that 'Datable Girls' thing.

Datable girls don't need to know when to shut up.

It's that undatable girls don't know when to shut up.

Being attractive is the most important thing there is
If you wanna catch the biggest fish in your pond
You have to be as attractive as possible
Make sure to keep your hair spotless and clean
Wash it at least every two weeks
Once every two weeks
And if you see Jonny football hero in the hall
Tell him he played a great game
//Tell him you like his article in the newspaper

Nope you got it wrong.  He's a douchebag saying that fitting "traditional" gender roles make you more datable, and that it's women's fault when they get in abusive relationships.   He was so bad the high school kids shot him down.

Grown men with "peacocking" hairstyles are ... well ... pathetic. If you're still trying to catch tail after your looks start the downward slide, you're too late, everyone knows it, and that hair gel is not going to turn back the hands of time.

"Why did you tell girls to get out of abusive relationships instead of telling guys not to be abusive in the first place?" one student asked.

God, I hate this line of 'reasoning'.

How about this:  "Guys, don't be abusive to girls.  And girls, if your guy IS abusive, don't do a thing to get out of the situation, because you shouldn't have to."

Ehhhh

Why did you tell people to lock their doors instead of telling people to stop stealing?

We can tell people to stop doing shiat, doesn't mean they're going to stop. You can do things to deal with that reality though.

I'm sad to read that we are supposed to ignore gender stereotypes. Geez, what is this world supposed to be? Homogenous? Androgynous? What if I just sit here and scratch my balls, will I offend society?

FTFA:
This is an excerpt from Lookadoo's list of rules for being a "dateable" girl:
Dateable girls know how to shut up. They don't monopolize the conversation. They don't tell everyone everything about themselves. They save some for later. They listen more than they gab.
And from his rules for being a "dateable" boy:
Dateable guys know they aren't as sensitive as girls, and that's okay. They know they are stronger, more dangerous, and more adventurous, and that's okay. Dateable guys are real men who aren't afraid to be guys.

More gold!  Lots and lots of gold today!
I'd really like to figure out why the PTA thought it was necessary to give money to someone and pull kids out of class to hear him.  A lecture on being dateable is almost assuredly not the reason.

Assuming that only boys can be abusers is one of the "traditional gender roles" stigmas that men have been trying to erase for a long time. It's bad enough when this idiot does it, but it's much worse when his critics do it. The hypocrisy is terrible.

Because by telling them that it's their own fault if they find it impossible to leave (please tell me you don't think that abused women can just say "man, I'm tired of this, i'm leaving and I'm sure you'll leave me alone as a result". ) is counterproductive.

I think it's important to show young women (all women) that there are ways out of abusive relationships, that they can be protected, that their partner's threats of murder can be dealt with, but just throwing your arms up and say "those zany men, we just can't teach them to stop beating women so deal with it" is ridiculous.  Deal with reality but also work to friggin' change it.

Yep - that's an important, and positive, point. This wasn't "helicopter parents" or "butthurt activists", but the kids themselves that looked at this farking moron and went, "are you serious?!" At that point, what you have here is someone who thought it would be a good idea to funnel cash to yet another Christian who thought he was "hip."

My question is why the fark is the school system telling teenagers how to date?

Why don't you school people concentrate on producing graduates who can read, spell, write and do basic math?

Whatever money they paid this douche would have been better spent on condoms to hand out to the kids.

/yeah, i know it's suburban Texas, so, not gonna happen

He didn't say anything inflammatory to the kids...he mentioned his website where the suspect language was located...let's all calm our tits.

He website message needs to be rephrased, but his message it right.    The majority of guys don't want a girl that wont shut up and keeps yapping about herself, and the majority of girls want a man...not a wimp.

As to the girl's concern about telling girls to get out of abusive relationships...that is similar to the stupid "teach boys not to rape" line of thinking...WE ALL KNOW IT ISN'T OKAY TO RAPE.     Similarly, WE ALL KNOW IT ISN'T OKAY TO ABUSE your girlfriend, he is just telling girls if it happens, get help and move on.

On one hand, many stereotypes have a basis in reality. Men and women are different, and think differently, and handle emotions differently.

On average.

There's a crapload of overlap though. It's hardly a case of "never the twain shall meet."

On the other hand, motivational speaker is a bigger jackass than most motivational speakers, and most importantly, the parents are the suxxorz for not having the balls to sit down with their kids and explain dating and relationships - like real parents.

Apparently we don't all know it isn't OK to rape or abuse.

I would say teenage girls don't face the same dilemmas in an abusive relationship that adult women might in terms of being stuck. All situations are different, obviously. I hate to generalize about these things, but it's the only way to discuss them.

We already do teach people not to hit each other, it's never ever ever going to completely stop though. Some people are violent dicks. Making girls aware that they don't need to subject themselves to it seems to be the more effective path.

When I was in public school we had motivational speakers who were interesting and whose speeches and messages I can still remember today.

I guess we just had good teachers and a non-idiotic PTA.
