Skorka said protesters made cutting comments like "the Jews killed Jesus." He said one Jew confronted them, saying, "My grandmother died in Auschwitz," to which an activist replied, "Do you belive that lie?"

Here's a sign that Jews are in general very good people that we should appreciate:

The next line in the article was not "the Jew then broke the activist's face". Because man, that's what I would have felt like doing.

Well they were visitors, and trying to be on etheir best manners.  But had I been in that church, I think my Irish manners  would have caused me to risk breaking the Ban of Beckett  and done that on his behalf, you know, as a courtesy to our guests

These guys were excommunicated, but Benedict brought them back into the church.

I hope Francis excommunicates them again and takes away all the trappings and properties of the church. After all, this group literally is a schismatic Catholic sect. The proper thing to do is to excommunicate.

Given that they are also Holocaust deniers and Nazi Sympathizers I'd be okay with the full  Abbot Amalric "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius "  treatment, The ARE French heretics after all, so there is precedent.

Actually, the Romans killed Jesus. And Jesus was born, lived and died a Jew. And the death was required by God.

No, not even close. There are a ton of seriously shiatbag medieval Popes who were just awful.

If Pope Francis got to choose his opponents, he couldn't do any better.  Sarah Palin?  Anti-semites?  Holocaust deniers?

What the fark?  This is so lop-sided, if it were politics, there would be rumors of false flag operations.

Nah, he's not the worst, he knew enough to quit. The worst types are the ones that try to hold onto power forever.

A small group disrupted Tuesday night's ceremony by shouting the rosary and the "Our Father" prayer, and spreading pamphlets saying that "followers of false gods must be kept out of the sacred temple."

Buenos Aires Archbishop Mario Poli, named by Francis to replace him as Argentina's top church official, appealed for calm as others in the audience rose up to repudiate the protesters, who were soon escorted out by police.

Sounds like they got their wish.

From the article:

Skorka said protesters made cutting comments like "the Jews killed Jesus." He said one Jew confronted them, saying, "My grandmother died in Auschwitz," to which an activist replied, "Do you belive that lie?"

After reading that the protesters included holocaust deniers, I resolved to determine how quickly I could find Free Republic members defending them.

My search was short (WARNING: Freeper link).

Dude, not for nothing...but that shiat constantly surprises me. If I were a black woman, I think I would walk around punching people in their farking faces all day. I wouldn't make it through a day of being a WoC unless I stayed the fark indoors. And that's in the Bay Area. In other areas, I think killing spree might occur.

Is there still (or was there ever) a defense or mitigation for 'fighting words'? It might fall under provocation? Some people just need a pop in the nose.

Not even close.  Benedict was an intellectual who wrote more books than Palin's read.  He wasn't a bad pope, IMO, but it didn't help him that he bore an unfortunate resemblance to Palpatine.

My boss ran into this once.  He was best man in a catholic wedding, and weeks after the wedding was over it was discovered by the wrong member of the family that he is one of the dreaded jews.  They were furious and mortified.  Thank God nobody knew at the time or it could have gone really, really badly.  I had no idea that there was a branch of the Catholic faith with this particular problem.

Yes, it's a bizarre thing to say, considering that the Jews worship the same god that the Christians do.  They just (according to christians) have failed to notice God's latest teachings.

"Skorka said protesters made cutting comments like 'the Jews killed Jesus.'"

So....you're saying that the modern adherents of a religion bear full moral culpability for the actions of their antecedents centuries or even millennia ago? You'd think that Catholics would be reluctant to go down that road...

"He said one Jew confronted them, saying, 'My grandmother died in Auschwitz,' to which an activist replied, 'Do you believe that lie?'"

Well, it is nice when complete idiots identify themselves so obviously. I have to give him that.

Per Wiki:
The Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) is an international traditionalist Catholic organisation, founded in 1970 by the French archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. The society's official Latin name is Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii X, meaning "Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X". The society is known as a strong defender and proponent of the Tridentine Mass, along with pious practices, beliefs, customs and religious discipline often associated with the period before the Second Vatican Council, which the society believes promoted erroneous teachings and thereby reject as heretical. The Society has been accused of anti-Semitic views.[1]
Pope Benedict XVI declared that, for doctrinal rather than disciplinary reasons, the SSPX has no canonical status in the Catholic Church and, because of that lack of canonical status, the ministries exercised by its ministers are not legitimate in the Church.[2] However, the society's superior general maintains that the Holy See gives some recognition to the canonical existence and ecclesial ministry of the Society's priests.[3]

Wow, wait until they find out the Jesus and the 12 disciples were all Jewish.

Also

"followers of false gods must be kept out of the sacred temple."

No facepalm picture known to man can express the utter stupidity in a Christian calling the God of Abraham a "false god"
