FTFA: And despite the negative perception of sex work in the community, he is pleased with the work he does, which sometimes includes clients with disabilities. "I've found that what I do provides real value to women who are missing intimacy in their lives.

I completely agree. I've known both men and women with disabilities who struggled with the absence of emotional and sexual intimacy in their lives, and some have told me that sex workers do provide real value for them. Who am I to condemn them for that?

I think you said it all right there. One more reason it should be legalized and regulated so sex workers are healthy.

The same is true of people missing intimacy or expressed sexuality. The majority of my clients are married, but their partner (whom they love btw) cannot or will not provide certain things that they've found they need for their personal and mental well being. They could of course leave their partner and search for someone who can provide both things for them, but that might be as rare as a unicorn. *I* am not their ideal, even if they believe it to be so, because they're not in a 24/7 relationship with me. I've been married, I *know* the difference when it's 24/7. Sometimes their partner is pretty much perfect outside of not sharing the same sexual needs. Sometimes the relationship is far from perfect, but they still have love for their partner (I don't work with people who have contempt for their partners) and staying is easier than leaving and/or fixing (if it can be fixed, sometimes one party just isn't willing).

It's not just about farking. Don't get me wrong, some of my clients are *purely* about getting to the orgasm, or their desired peak, and I have those as regulars too, but I have quite a few more that need varying levels of intimacy/friendship as well.

The largest problem (and I'm sure it's true for male sex workers as well, tho I do NOT speak for anyone but myself) is navigating situations where deep romantic attachments evolve where the person wants more than they can have. It's easier to deal with these situations before they develop, so I'm always on the watch for it. When it occurs, I reinforce the boundaries of the relationship and if need be openly talk about it with them. But I don't fault anyone who doesn't catch it soon enough, it's just *so* problematic that it's constantly on the radar scan. Not just problematic in potentially creating harassment or whatever, but problematic in that people can be very hurt in ways no one wants to do (outside of some fetish play).

Anyhoo, sex work fills many more niches in society than 'someone wants to pay to fark', sometimes we're the only therapists someone can talk to. I've had more than one client tell me I literally saved their lives. I don't believe my work/actions solely did for any of them, but that when you're going through difficult shiat having that void makes it so much worse. Having that void filled, even if one considers it ersatz, makes it SO much easier to deal with everything else.

It's about compassion. Even domination. I would say, especially domination.

Coming on a Bicycle: Women who visit male prostitutes - how totes empowered is that?!

It's actually been going on quite awhile AFAIK with older women and sex tourism weirdly enough. I talk with sex workers all over the world and found out a few years ago that in parts of Africa rich old ladies go there to have fun with young, buff boys. Pure sex tourism, and it's like granny club med some places. The big issue that made the media (again if I recall correctly) was that some of the boy toys contracted STDs, and that was threatening the sex tourism trade. Those infected however couldn't make as much money doing anything else, so they had ever reason to risk to continue, especially given what a farking death sentence it is over there for them.

And there's always been male escorts, but most of them switch (do gay escorting as well), because the money just isn't there for most of them. Or they do sex ed. stuff, write books, focus on that area as their sex work, or stunt cock...though most of us don't pay for stunt cocks because it's generally so much easier to get someone to pay you to do it. :D

It's nice though to see the evolution of male sex work in a western society so similar to ours where decriminalization is taking place, and societal perceptions usually are not far to follow. It's so much better for everyone when it's legal.

Pro subbing is, purely in my opinion, far more difficult if one is doing in person client sessions. People can trust me because of my reputation, they can read lots of reviews from my clients on various forums/sites/etc. They watch me interact with clients and subs on twitter for fark's sake hee hee. I get paid up front as all sex workers tend to do because that's how much you should trust a client. You don't tell them your real name. I have clients I like, love and trust...who don't know and will never know my true name. Given that boundary must exist (again IMHO, but this one is widely held and preached among sex workers, thou shalt not tell them thy real name ;)) how do you surrender control to a client Dom? If one is purely acting (which is fine IMO, they're pros too) how do you extend to trust to allow them to do certain things?

I don't know any pros who inperson sub in one on one sessions. It's all dungeon work, porn, etc. I DO know many female kinksters though who pro Domme professionally, but are subs *personally*. And I have more than one Dom who's a switch as clients, which I do brag about a bit without name dropping.

If you're ever serious about looking into sex work though, let me know. I'd want to protect both our privacy, but I have friends who would be good mentors depending on what area interested you. Google is also a pretty decent resource for reading up, but even better is if you can find pro forums that have open discussion areas without hobbyist intrusion (in other words where they're mostly giving straight shiat to people who are interested in sex work and not talking up their brand trolling for clients).

Hope that helps, my main goals in sharing all this shiat is just to shed some light on this stuff because I want people to understand it and have informed opinions. I do NOT ever want people to think it's anything other than my POV and opinion though, I don't and can't speak for others. And I can be wrong on things too, and my opinions change based on evidence. ;)

And just one more aside before I appear too AW-y...like most people who like what they do and are passionate about things they like, I tend to highlight most of the positive of my life and work in sex work. There's also plenty of bad just like any job or any life. I just don't tend to go on about it as much, and usually I'm addressing articles that are either negative on sex work or are about some idiot and it makes me want to address it just like anyone would about such stuff ... or it's the rare positive one I want to cheer on.

But I do not intend to make it seem glam. It is not. It's work. In fact to see the other side of it without the trafficking bullshiat nonsense...check out sex worker advocacy groups run by sex workers. You'll see the real deal there without the hype. I *like* what I do, and I choose to do it mind you, but there's lots of work more profitable and easier. And that you can discuss at Thanksgiving. So, like an abortion doctor, in it's own magical way....

Meh, it's been over 10 years since I was with anyone, and I don't particularly miss it. Sex is like going to the movies: it's something fun to do, and better if you're with someone else, but it's not really necessary*.

THIS!

There should be a job category somewhere between full-blown male whore (not like THAT you pervs) and proffesional mental counselor.  Someone that would be there to listen to a woman, give her hugs and affection, NOT have sex, and charge rates somewhere between a full-blown male whore (not like THAT you pervs) and proffesional mental counselor.
