Thank Lemmy he wasn't killed by death.

The next 15-20 years are going to be brutal as all these legends of metal start heading off to the big concert in the sky.  The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, the NWOBHM generation are going to be gone and frankly it just bums the hell out of me.  The universe got less interesting when Cliff, the Rev, SRV, Randy, Jimi all left to soon, but what will it be when Lemmy, Bruce, Halford, Ozzy, and all those guys are gone?  Time to go listen to Fiction one more time followed by To Live is To Die...

Well, he's old.

Dougermouse: I get what you're saying but supernovas are beautiful. Better to burn out than fade away, and all that. And Halford will never die.

The important thing is Lenny is properly rated. It's vital that future generations remember the artistry of thrash metal or death metal or heavy metal or whatever the fark kind of screaming shiat Lenny and his band Motorpool called music.

Ah, that's what I get from reading too much Moorcock lately. Also it's not entirely unlikely that I repeated the same mistake the guys from Hawkwind did...

Just putting this out there, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton not have been worth listening to without Clapton. That album changed things for guitar, he invented the sound of a Les Paul plugged into a Marshall Amp turned all the way up, then created the wall of sound. (If he didn't invent it, he popularized it but as far as I know he's the first one to do it.) The lead guitar become the most important thing by far on that record and blazed a trail for other guitar players.

Even if you think Clapton is overrated (he isn't, and Cream was not even close to his best band before anyone tries that "without Cream Clapton is useless" line) he's hugely influential.

/Personally more of a Jeff Beck fan, but I like Clapton.

Lemmy's pacemaker is faster and louder than the normal pacemaker. And just what they hell is that metal heart pumping....according to his biography his blood nothing less than a slurry of jack & coke, doritos and speed.

/E.C. may or may not be over-rated but he isn't in the top 50 of guitarists that I want to hear play.
