This is relevant to my interests.
Not that I can eat any more chocolate than I do, I just want to feel virtuous about it.

My god, Woody Allen is a prophet. Inevitably we will discover that smoking cigarettes and eating burgers and bacon actually makes you healthier. Mark my words...

I'm not a huge fan of chocolate. On occasion it's nice, but I've never thought, "I really want some chocolate."

I eat 100% pure chocolate (unsweetened, no milk, etc. In other words, it has one ingredient) throughout the day. I order it in 25 lb boxes, lol. It is my preferred stimulant and dopamine releaser. Much better than tobacco, coffee, or ADD drugs. Not to mention it has more antioxidants than most "table vegetables"

I highly recommend pure chocolate in place of the prescribed stimulants so many "ADD" people are addicted to, from the drug pusher industry.

That's another name for it, if you buy it in small packages at the grocery store, yes. If you order from chocolate suppliers, it is generally called "cocoa" or "cocoa mass", etc. I purchase bulk "flaked cocoa mass", from ecuador.

Vague article is vague. Adolescents have much higher metabolisms than adults, so making comparisons between the two demographics is silly. Also, "researchers did not look at the type of chocolate consumed in the study," so the 'results' are more or less useless.

\ correlation =|= causation
\\ no doubt next week's story will contradict this one

I love this article, not just because I love chocolate, but because they didn't push the usual line of only the really dark, low sugar variety of chocolate being the "good" one. That shiat is nasty.

Nah. Adding sugar and cow excretions is nasty.

There is almost always a contradictory follow-up story to any article on the "benefits" of any particular food. May as well just choose the story you like best and stick to it.

Some people like brussel sprouts too, I'm not one of them. I take my chocolate with sugar and cow excretions, or not at all.

Can't speak for cigarettes, but from what I've heard, there's a LOT of new work coming out that basically says that fat and protein are noticeably better than sugars and somewhat better than carbs.  So don't eat fruit (because it's pure sugar), don't eat crackers, and eat lots of bacon and burgers up until you are no longer hungry.

Oh, and your insulin insensitivity is DIRECTLY related to how fat you are (the more insensitive, the easier it is to add fat, the harder it is to get energy to your muscles, and the harder it is to take fat off), and it's at least heard of to reset your insulin dependency and basically cure pre-diabetes/metabolic syndrome by eating 600 calories for a month (and one of these days, I really need to try that).

/Oh, and eating lots of meat will make you a fat farker with a ton of energy (hence why it's called a farmer's breakfast), and eating lots of carbs will make you a fat, lazy, always hungry, easily tired farker.  Calories in is NOT independent of calories out.
//Dropped from 320 to 295 in August, cracked my ribs, gained 5 pounds while they healed, and went from 300 to 290 last week.  (Note: I'm 6'4".  A 6'4", 290 pound person is proportionally the same as a 167 5'3" person)
///If your face isn't tingling, you're not hungry, and you have peripheral vision, you're not losing weight.

you need to eat your veggies

2013-11-13 07:49:16 PM
Well, eating chocolate DOES lower the amount of nearby fat that you HAVEN'T consumed yet...

2013-11-13 08:06:42 PM
I hate to do this but I'm calling shenanigans.  If study doesn't track type of chocolate, and doesn't control for the rest of the diet, it's worthless.  For instance, It could be that eating more chocolate is pushes out even unhealthier foods like cookies and cupcakes.

Was that American chocolate or you know real chocolate? because you have to watch that American shiat you get from Hersheys.

While this article deserves a massive [UNLIKELY] tag I'm going to go ahead and make myself a healthy breakfast.
