Americans are insane. We demand that politicians make promises, and we demand that they keep them, and then we elect divided government which makes doing so impossible.

I guess the Conservative Party doesn't understand how the Internet works.

You're right, but this story is from Britain.

First, what Rev. Skarekroe said.

Second, we don't demand that the other side make promises, because we won't like those promises, nor do we vote for the people that will oppose the promises we do like.

Somebody doesn't know how the internet works. And they're in charge of a government. That's really some depressing shiat right there..

FTFA: Among the speeches which were deleted by the party include promises to make the internet more transparent in order to "bridge the gap" between government and voters.

LOL They are comedians.

Well, the internet is a series of tubes. All you have to do is cap it off

So vote Republican and everything will be fine?

How many people were actually checking on those promises and contemplating changing their vote?

The Internet's memory is irrelevant, unfortunately.

In this case, they really seem to understand at least a bit, since the article says they've already managed to scrub the Internet Archive.

Does anyone know of another cache or backup site where the information is still available?

If it was saved, it's somewhere.

If it wasn't worth saving, it's not.

Guess what: probably nobody cares. So they "made a promise" in some speech. Politicians do that. Why do people still believe in McDonalds cheeseburgers in the cafeteria on Fridays after all this time? It's not a binding contract. It's a speech.

Well, that explains the mysterious fire in their offices last week.
