The real surprise here is that there was no bomb.

Things I know about Wyoming:

1) Devil's Tower is located there.

2) They have a Wal-Mart.

3) People seem to not like the Wal-Mart.

What else should I be clued in on re. this obviously fantastic locale?

Okay, let's try "Shiat that has to happen in order for Wyoming to make it into a Fark headline" for $600

The Northwest corner of Wyoming is beautiful.  Unfortunately, the rest of Wyoming looks like this:

Also, there are apparently only two sets of escalators in the state.

They have winds strong enough to rip a luggage rack with six suitcases strapped to it right the fark off your car.

There were bomb threats at some local Kmarts a couple weeks ago.  Pretty pathetic.

By a feat of incredible foresight, Wyoming also has the same number of U.S. Senators.

Then we can assume there are an equal number of hookers there too? (both male, probably.)

Wyoming sucks definitely never visit or move there, especially if you're from the East or West coast.

Recognized that right away as the Target next to Allstate Arena.... actually, I don't think many Target's paint a Target on the roof.... they did that one I think since it is more likely to be seen being right next to a (somewhat) major sports arena, that would possibly be filmed from the sky for TV, looked for on Google Maps, etc.

Speaking as someone from a heavily overdeveloped corner of the nation, that actually looks like heaven to me.

I've actually been through Laramie a few times and stayed right down the street from that Walmart. Oddly enough, it's one of the cleaner and nicer-looking locations I've ever seen.

When I worked at the newspaper, we never reported bomb threats if there was no bomb. The idea was that you didn't want to encourage idiots with publicity, since the actual event is kind of a nothing (like a false fire alarm). Also, subby, who are "they" in this context? Because there are plenty enough morons in Wyoming to call in bomb threats without it being part of some international conspiracy who would be assumed to target DC and New York.

Laramie Police say the caller demanded an undisclosed amount of money be transferred to him using a pre-paid debit card.

Oh, that's definitely a criminal mastermind with tentacles around the globe, right there.

That map is misleading.  There's Yellowstone (Northwest), Grand Teton/Jackson Hole (West), and Bighorn (North).  The rest is flat.  High, but flat.  It's all cattle country.  Cattle like flat, not mountains.

This one is west of the Atlanta airport.  It gives the airline pilots something to aim for.  Also BJ's for some extra incentive to undershoot the runway.

My money is on ol Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld hanging around the Cheney Mansion getting their drunk on and deciding to have some fun with the poors at WalMart.

/I bet they used a drone to watch the evacuation too.

Walmart is a double edged sword in small towns. Walmart provides lots of jobs; but, sometimes, causes the regular Mom & Pop stores to go under. That can cause a lot of resentment in the community.

One example: my grandmother owned a little house near Grand Lake; the closest town being about 30 minutes away. Instead of going into town to Walmart; we usually go to a little gas station/grocery store/butcher/restaurant about 5 minutes away from the house. It provides local jobs and has better products than Wally World. The only reason we ever go to Walmart is if we absolutely have to.

The most obvious appeal of Wyoming is that nobody lives there.  But if  you let that little secret slip, then everyone will want to come... so, shut up!

Oh, this is so true. Do not move to Wyoming. Really,  save yourselves!!! The people are all rabid Republicans and their bite is septic. Also it's full of rattlesnakes, heat stroke, gas fracking and lonely stretches of miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles. To say Wyoming has no culture is like saying deep Space has no atmosphere.

Stay away. Dear God in Heaven, Stay away. Also, Dick Cheney lives here.

Sorry.  The Extreme West and slightly Northwest.  So, checkmate I guess.

Lived in Cheyenne for a year. It was very quiet and peaceful, but the town looked incredibly dated. It was like the entire town made it to about 1974 and said "Eh, that's good enough" and froze in place.

But Fort Collins was 30 minutes away and Denver was 90. Kinda miss them.

Then I got the bright idea to move to Alaska...

Can't fool me.  Jackson and the Teats and the Snake all rock.  Chuck Wagon Breakfast at Dornan's.  Bison wandering through your campsite at dawn.  Moose.
